Wonderful
nothing, the furniure was unsittable and old, the bathroom ceiling had mold and mildew and the jetted tub had been unjetted. The cleaning people were nice. When we got there, there was no gate key for the condo in the lock box much less two. luckily one of the cleaners pullwed up and helped us. they gave us one key so we had to be available to let our guest in. All of the blinds in the bedrooms were falling apart. The comforter on the king bed was worn out. There was two inches of nasty water in the bottom of the dishwasher. I thought it was garbage disposal stinking but it was the dishwasher. I ran it empty then again and got it to drain. There was drippage of blood, poop or coffee down the side of the master tub and the toilet had not been cleaned behind in, I do not know how long. There were four channels on the master tv. I really think we are due a refund of at least one night if not the two and thank God it was only two. The cleaning fee should definitely be added back on my card. Vacasa, I called all three nos on your door when we did not have a gate key on a Sunday afternoon. I finally heard from one man from Alabama
Realty trying to see if he could help me. It was a dismal disappointment for my husband's 75 birthday
First, two positives: The HVAC worked very well and it was a short walk to the small/narrow beach area.
Many negatives: Dunes East needs a lot of maintenance work! From the rotting front steps with rusty screws sticking up (a safety issue) to the extremely uncomfortable sofa in living area and the falling apart sofa in the upstairs sitting area, this place is not what we expected for the $3,000+ paid for 5 nights. There were multiple smaller issues such as lights not working properly in 2nd bathroom, toilet paper holder broken off wall in Master bathroom, torn/peeling wallpaper, broken blinds, poorly supplied kitchen (no baking/casserole dish, not enough silverware, large glasses or coffee mugs for 6), roaches (live and dead), worn out linens and torn comforter on king bed, very worn, stained carpeting, broken outside shower, etc.
Dunes East is listed for 8; however, there are only sleeping spaces for 6. And the sofas, which at one time appear to have been sleep sofas, could not be used for sleeping now.
Also, I received quite a bit of misinformation from the Vacasa staff as to exactly what was or was not provided in the unit. That made planning the stay difficult and caused us to bring items that we really did not need to bring.
In our family of 8 who stayed there, the 6 adults agreed that Dunes East was below par for a vacation rental and that we would never stay In Dunes East again.
Nice location, good view, pictures on website are outdated of this property. Unsafe decking, stepped on board and broke under my foot. Musty smell in house, furniture old and uncomfortable, walls and appliances stained. Outside shower non-existent have to use other side. We had a great time at beach, crabbing going inshore fishing. Wouldn’t recommend this property till the owner fixes it up. Vacasa the rental people were very polite, understanding and concerned about deck breaking under my foot and side rails missing and we had 4 year old grandson.
We were very disappointed in the condition of the rental. The carpets were dirty, the linens were stained, the kitchen barely had any of the necessary items for cooking and eating. No baking sheets, very few utensils, not many pots and pans, and no cooking utensils. The painted walls were very smudged and not clean and the wallpaper was peeling in the bathrooms. The light fixtures and all vents were filthy. As if that wasn’t bad enough, we could hear everything that went on in the duplex next door. You could even hear conversations. Will definitely never stay there again and will not recommend either. Which is a shame. We just bought a rental and are fixing it up and would love to be able to recommend other places for friends and family to stay.
