Welcome to

Keystone

Known for its stunning scenery, abundant recreational opportunities, and vibrant nightlife, Keystone, Colorado is Summit County’s largest ski area, attracting over a million visitors each year. Sitting at 9,280 feet, Keystone is more urban than many other neighboring mountain resort towns, offering upscale spas, elevated fine-dining experiences, and a “mini-city” vibe through its intentional planning.

Keystone Resort spans three distinct mountains: Dercum Mountain, North Peak, and The Outback. The area boasts over 128 runs and 3,000 skiable acres, featuring everything from gentle beginner slopes to challenging steep tree trails. In recent years, new attractions at Keystone include 555 acres of high-altitude back-bowl skiing, along with a new lift and even more outstanding views.

Beyond winter skiing and snowboarding, warmer months transform Keystone’s landscape into a premier destination for downhill mountain biking, paddleboarding on the man-made Keystone Lake, and championship golf. Pace yourself for the 2 high-altitude golf courses, or head out on a vast network of bike trails through the mountains.

Like most communities across Summit County in central-Colorado, this region has a rich mining and logging history. Unlike neighboring towns, such as Breckenridge or Frisco, Keystone was intentionally designed as a ski village. Originally founded in 1970 by Max Dercum and Bill Updike, Keystone resort began as a winter retreat. Over half a century later, in 2024, Keystone incorporated as its own town.

Keystone was created with family fun in mind and is renowned for its outdoor recreational activities. Today, luxury accommodations invite guests to unwind in the cool mountain air. Winter offers exceptional skiing and snowboarding, as well as a chance to play at the World’s Largest Mountaintop Snow Fort at the top of Dercum Mountain. Come summer, outdoor activities are filled with hiking, mountain biking, fishing, camping, and more.
