About
A trip to Virginia's scenic Meadows of Dan area would be incomplete without a visit to the iconic Nancy's Candy Company.
Nancy whipped up her stellar fudge back in her kitchen in 1987, and with the help of neighbors and friends, they started a grass-roots confection company, Nancy's Homemade Fudge.
In no time, news about her sweet treats spread throughout the Blue Ridge Mountain area and into North Carolina. As her goods became more popular, Nancy and her team went to work creating more chocolatey goodies.
These were also a hit, and Nancy's delicious delicacies were the talk along the Blue Ridge Parkway. In 1998, they outgrew their rented space and purchased 4.5 acres near the Blue Ridge Parkway and built a 30,000-square-foot facility not too far from Rocky Knob Recreation Area. And since they sold more than fudge, she changed the name to Nancy's Candy Company.
Visiting is a sweet tooth's paradise! The 2500-square-foot sales room is jam-packed with 45 flavors of fudge, 85 different chocolates, and 25 sugar-free chocolates. They also offer bagged favorites like Gummi Worms, trail mixes, stick candy, and chocolate-covered pretzels. Be sure to purchase one of their renowned treats, the Fudge Cups. These little gems helped put Nancy's Candy Company on the map!
With so many treats and chocolates, adding a stop at Nancy's Candy Company before or after exploring nearby Mabry Mill is a no-brainer.
Fun Facts & Cool Features
A fun and heart-tugging fact is that Nancy wanted to bring jobs to the Meadows of Dan area in addition to starting her own candy company. Her dreams have come true with the company's continued success and growth!
What makes visiting Nancy's Candy Company exciting is the opportunity to watch confectioners craft sweets through glass windows. You'll witness firsthand how truffles are made, especially since there are over 25 varieties like jalapeño and tequila lime.
Another highlight is the unique line of brittles and barks. Unlike typical candy shops, Nancy's has perfected the art of making brittles with unique ingredients such as bacon and chili peppers. The ingenious blending of sweet, savory, and delightful crunch makes their brittles highly sought-after.
