Portland & Willamette Valley

Towering evergreens, rolling vineyards, and rugged Pacific Northwest landscapes define the beauty of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Stretching over 150 miles, the Willamette Valley sits in the heart of Oregon between Portland, the Columbia River Gorge, the Oregon Coast, and Silver Falls State Park. The area is renowned for its vast amount of wineries, culinary tourism, and quiet countryside towns mixed with vibrant urban hubs.

For centuries, this picturesque region has been home to a variety of cultures. From the Kalapuya people that inhabited the area for thousands of years to the settlers that brought agriculture to the valley in the 19th century—Willamette Valley is a must-visit on your travel list.

Sitting on the northern edge of Willamette Valley, Portland rests in a green valley with rivers winding through downtown and Mount Hood rising in the distance. Lush parks, bridges, and tree-lined streets give the city its relaxed, walkable feel. At the convergence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers, Portland blends creative energy with easy access to nature. From food carts and craft breweries to Forest Park trails and the iconic Powell's City of Books, Portland delivers.

Food is a major draw here. Hundreds of food carts, James Beard-winning restaurants, and famous donut shops keep things interesting. Coffee roasters and craft breweries are practically a way of life. Cultural events fill the calendar too, from the Portland Rose Festival to lively summer markets and gallery walks.

Located about 45 minutes southwest of Portland, the welcoming town of Newberg is known as the “northern gateway to Oregon wine country”, attracting wine aficionados from around the world. Home to 150 local wineries, this area is distinguished for its award-winning Pinot Noir, historic downtown, hot-air ballooning, and rolling hills.

What makes Willamette Valley truly unique is that it combines all the best aspects of Oregon into one incredible destination: wine country with over 500 vineyards, sites for picking hazelnuts, abundant nature parks teeming with wildlife, and plenty of opportunities to taste fresh local food from roadside farm stands.
