Modern Coastal Wellness Retreat with Hot Tub, Sauna & Cold Plunge

We loved this modern home! Near all the conveniences yet not surrounded by the tourists. The furniture is modern and comfortable while the layout promotes visiting with your guests.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but there were quite a few issues and inconveniences that got in the way of it feeling like a peaceful getaway. First, I would not recommend this home for folks with young children, primarily because the home is not at all walkable being directly along a very busy road with cars that drive 40-50 mph. It is also situated between two broken down properties that appear to be abandoned with multiple motor homes in the driveway. There is no river or beach access and no yard, so with our two young kids, we had to pack up and leave the house any time we wanted to play outside. Inside the home, there were a handful of minor inconveniences, such as the primary bed having the slats on the bed frame improperly installed so that the bed sagged in certain spots (we were able to figure it out and fix it). The hot tub was covered in a slimy film that broke off and floated around when we climbed in. There were no instructions or supplies for treating it, so we just didn’t use it during our stay aside from those very gross couple of minutes. As one other reviewer mentioned, the sauna takes 2+ hours to heat up, but it looked like one of the infrared panels was actually broken since only one was lighting up. It never got past 125° for me, and it has a one hour timer so it times out before it actually heats up. It was set to its max of 170° but never got there (for reference, a traditional sauna is between 180-190° so this was a big disappointment). The garage was also very messy, covered in sawdust. The shampoo/body wash bottles squirt one pump and then take forever to dispense another pump. Again, just a whole bunch of tiny inconveniences that added up to feel like we had been fooled by the beautiful listing photos. It feels like this listing was rushed to be opened without making sure all the finishing touches were there. I think one thing that could make this rental better would be if the owners could stay for a couple nights and use all the amenities and take note of what could be better. Another thing that could improve the guest experience would be a handbook or instructions for the different amenities (e.g., sauna, hot tub, cold plunge). This is definitely the most negative review I’ve left so I do want to end on some things that were good: the cold plunge was wonderful! The decorations and furnishings were lovely. The house layout is fantastic and the views of the inlet are so tranquil. We loved watching it drain as the tide went out. The workout setup is incredible and I loved getting to use the free weights during our stay. I am leaving this feedback with the hope that the owners will address what they can and make the place as much of a retreat as it can be.

Whispering Winds was a perfect space for me and my girlfriends to get together and enjoy the beach. The place was beautiful and clean as well as very comfortable beds. we especially loved the main living area. As this is a new listing, they are definitely still working out the kinks. If you use the sauna, it takes up to two hours to get hot so plan accordingly. It is a bit of a walk (not very safe) to get to the beach so you may have to drive to one of the public parking areas to have beach access.

The property was perfect for our family of five, with an impressive layout and great amenities like the hot tub, weight room, wifi, etc. I would consider this design for my future home.

This house is well laid out with a pretty view of trees and an inlet for the Nestucca River. Bird song is common and a nice atmosphere. We staid here with two couples and three kids and the house fit us very well. The location is a very short drive from Pacific City and beaches, there is a boat put-in spot a 30 second drive down the street. Very cute town with a small grocery store, wine shop, restaurants, and gear shop. This is a newer rental and they are still working a few kinks out, but our stay was great. The Great room was excellent for entertaining a crowd and the furniture high quality and comfortable.
