The Normandy House at Saint Malo

We recently stayed at the Oceanside California St Malo 76 and had a mixed experience. Here are some highlights and issues we encountered during our stay: Highlights: The location is very quiet and close to the water, which was a big plus for us. The security guards were great and made us feel safe. It’s a fantastic place to avoid crowds, offering a peaceful and relaxing environment. The layout of the home is nice, with comfortable beds and furniture that made our stay pleasant. Issues: One major disappointment was the false advertising regarding the private beach. The "beach" can only be accessed at tides under 2.5ft. The pictures showed sandy beaches, but in reality, the sand was mostly wet, and the water was often crashing against the rocks. When we raised this issue on the first day, the management company offered for us to find a new place on our own and only pay for the nights we stayed here, but at that point, there was nothing available. The whole reason we paid the premium to stay here was to be walking distance to the beach. There were lots of mosquitos at night, which made it difficult to enjoy the evenings. Multiple trains come by every day, and there was no mention of this in the ads. The noise was quite disruptive. We encountered a significant number of spiders inside the home, killing at least 20 during our stay. Despite requesting pest control services five different times, they only came out on the last day of our stay. Overall, while there were some enjoyable aspects of our stay, the issues we encountered were significant enough to affect our experience. We hope the management takes these concerns seriously for future guests.

This house had just enough room for our family to all be together and enjoy each other's company and meander through the community and enjoy the beach with a private cabaña. Thank you so much!

The house was great. Plenty of space for our family and friends. The kitchen was well stocked with paper towels and napkins. Had some spices and seasonings and plenty of pots and pans. I thought the beds were comfortable and the couch was really comfortable (I may have taken a nap or two). We loved looking out at the pond behind us. There were some cons but not enough to make us unhappy. The beach we were used to visiting at St Malo has been washed away. The upper level is there with the volleyball court, but not the lower beach. So the waves crash on the rocks and the steps. We drove 10 minutes south to Tamarack beach in Carlsbad and really enjoyed that beach. Overall a great place to relax and make memories with friends and family. We loved it.

Love love this place. The entire community of Saint Malo was beautiful and loved learning the history. The house was amazing and everything you could possibly need for a wonderful weekend. We lived the privacy and slow pace of This home. Owners have done an amazing job.
