About

Xcaret Park offers something for everyone of all ages!

This 200-acre, award-winning attraction offers over 50 activities and exhibits geared at reconnecting visitors with Mexico's natural wonders and traditions.

The management group operating Xcaret also oversees other popular attractions like Xel-Ha Park. Since they are located between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, stringing multiple adventures together is easy. In fact, you could combine a visit to the Mayan ruins at Tulum Archaeological Site with any of these theme parks.

Xcaret's development began in 1984 when architect Miguel Quintana Pali dreamed of highlighting the region's beauty and culture. His massive project transformed the area into a leading destination by 1990. Today, millions worldwide visit every year.

The natural wonders are awe-inspiring. You'll discover underground river systems, coral reefs, and marine habitats, which promote environmental education. It also has cultural performances like the nightly Xcaret México Espectacular, showcasing Mexico's history with music, dance, and storytelling.

The butterfly aviary and turtle conservation program are another reason to visit. They offer an immersive connection with nature and education.

Whether exploring its hidden caves or enjoying authentic cuisine, Xcaret Park offers a chance to immerse in the extraordinary.

Xcaret Park: Fun Facts & Cool Features

One standout of the park is its underground rivers, which wind throughout the park. Visitors can swim and float through natural rock formations and lush, tropical greenery. Additionally, the rivers offer a glimpse into the integral part of Mayan rituals.

Another incredible highlight is Xcaret's connection to wildlife. The Aviary and Butterfly Pavilion are home to over 50 species of butterflies. Imagine watching these graceful and beautiful insects flitting through the air! It's a moment you'll treasure long after your visit.

The sea turtle sanctuary at Xcaret nurtures baby turtles and mature species, reflecting the park's conservation efforts.

Don’t forget the aforementioned Xcaret México Espectacular, which is a spectacular, family-friendly show. Over 300 performers blend music, dance, and history to celebrate pre-Hispanic traditions and modern Mexican culture.

History buffs will appreciate the authentic Mayan ruins scattered throughout the acreage, offering a glimpse into history.

As mentioned, Xcaret is near other landmarks like Rio Secreto. This cenote features crystal clear waters and the chance to float and swim amongst stalactites and stalagmites.

Visiting Xcaret Park will appeal to anyone on a Playa del Carmen vacation who loves nature, food, history, and adventure. Whether swimming through caves, learning about wildlife, or enjoying Mexican heritage, every moment will transform your getaway.
