About

Delaware Beach is a term used to refer to a group of beaches that span over 20 miles, located in—you guessed it, Delaware! This area offers crystal-clear waters, golden sand, awesome fishing, and plenty of recreational activities to enjoy, making this the ideal beach getaway and a must visit for anyone wanting some clean ocean air.

Bethany Beach

Known as part of the ‘Quiet Resorts’, this charming coastal town was established in the early 1900s with the construction of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge after WWII. Since that time, this area has become increasingly accessible and trending beach vacation destination for people from all over the country.

In fact every year, thousands of vacationers flock to Bethany Beach to enjoy the beach vibes and its half mile wooden boardwalk. Lined with numerous restaurants and cool vendors, this old-fashioned boardwalk is perfect for families, couples, groups of all sizes, and even solo travelers wanting to have some playful summer fun.

And if the gentle waves of the Atlantic ocean is calling you, Bethany Beach is also known for its breathtaking white sandy beaches and open shoreline. There you’ll be able to take a leisurely stroll along the beach with your loved one or experience calmer water activities like swimming or kayaking.

South Bethany

South Bethany has also become a go-to destination for beachgoers due to its proximity to Bethany Beach.

This beautiful area features numerous seafood restaurants and shops, as well as, several marinas where you can rent a boat or take part in other water activities. South Bethany also boasts several parks such as the Bethpage State Park which offers visitors plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation including hiking trails, picnic areas, playgrounds and more.

Fenwick Island

Have you heard of Fenwick Island? It's a small, charming coastal town in Sussex County, Delaware with a population of only 355 according to the 2020 census. The town sits on a narrow peninsula that separates the Atlantic Ocean from Little Assawoman Bay, and it's considered one of "The Quiet Resorts" along with its neighboring towns of Bethany Beach and South Bethany.

Although it's a peaceful town, it's a bit livelier than the Bethanies due to its proximity to the vibrant vacation resort of Ocean City, Maryland. Fenwick Island was named after Thomas Fenwick, an English planter who settled in Maryland, and was incorporated as a town in 1953 to prevent the high-rise development of Ocean City from spreading northward.

Interestingly, the area was once notorious for pirates who would hide from the law and bury their treasure. Cedar Island, in particular, was believed to be one of the pirate's secret spots.
