Spinning Jenny Vineyard

About

Perched on the slopes of sun-soaked Draper Mountain is a quaint vineyard offering tastings and breathtaking views. Spinning Jenny Vineyard is the brainchild of retirees Jennifer (the Jenny!) and Curtis Brown, who received their Virginia Farm Winery license in 2018 and opened in 2019.

The 37-acre Draper farm is home to a diverse harvest of grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Vidal Blanc, Cabernet Blanc, and Norton. These grapes yield palate-pleasing wines like their Route 76 Blush, the Virginia Viognier, and Merlot, along with forward-thinking red blends.

The vineyard's stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains make it a perfect spot to relax with a glass of wine after a day exploring Thee Draper Village. While the tasting room is small, it's massive in terms of ambiance, which is suitable for savoring crackers, cheese, and fruit with one of their vintages.

This combination of excellent wine, beautiful scenery, and rich history makes Spinning Jenny Vineyard a must-visit destination.

Spinning Jenny Vineyard: Fun Facts & Cool Features

A fun fact, and perhaps why a bicycle is part of their logo, is that the tasting room is on the Transamerica Cycling Route 76 path. The vineyard is 100 yards from the New River Trail State Park, a 57-mile rails-to-trails pathway suitable for cyclists, hikers, runners, and equestrians.

While a "Spinning Jenny" is an antique device that revolutionized the clothing industry, the vineyard's name may hint at "spinning" on a bicycle and a tip of the hat to the adjacent cycling trails. Either way, the mystery adds to the allure of visiting.

Another key feature is its proximity to Thee Draper Village, where you can pick up a picnic from Draper Merc Cafe to enjoy at Spinning Jenny Vineyard.

Whether you're a wine connoisseur or seeking a serene setting, the vineyard offers something for everyone. The friendly staff and the vineyard's commitment to excellence ensure that each visit is memorable. Enjoy the magic of Spinning Jenny Vineyard and discover why it is a cherished gem in the heart of Virginia.
