In welcoming Kish, Jay, and Shirin of Impact Holdings to Casago, we’ve had the chance to learn more about their fascinating generational journey into hospitality. In addition, Steve Schwab, Casago/Vacasa CEO had the pleasure of sitting down with our new partners for a Keystone Podcast (typically just for our homeowners), which is an inspiration we just had to share: A Family Legacy of Paying it Forward
Meet the Casago First Coast Vacation Rental Family!
Casago: What was your background before deciding to get into the vacation rental industry?
Kish: Our background spans multiple generations, from the middle part of India to retail experiences in Zambia during the 1950s, and educational opportunities in England for myself and my brothers. It was my brother, Shirin’s dad, who first came to California before moving to Florida, where an opportunity arose to purchase a mom ‘n pop motel in Gainesville. This was our introduction to hospitality. A few years later, we were able to buy another small hotel, also in Gainesville. That was over four decades ago. Through the steadfast work of friends and family, we continued to grow and became Impact Holdings, and have been able to partner with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Hilton, Marriott, and Hyatt.
Shirin: I have been with the company since 2008 and have always been keenly aware of the responsibility in caring for guests, as well as the importance of creating experiences and memories. As a family business, we have seen the sacrifices and rewards of being thrown into the deep end of hospitality. We are consistently striving to pay it forward while continuing to grow.
Jay: Prior to joining Impact Holdings, my background was in investment banking. In addition to hotels, we all have vast experience in retail, consumer services, and home services, which offers us incredible access to perform for our homeowners and guests.
Casago: Why did you decide to get into the vacation rental industry?
Kish: We found a passion for hospitality through practical application of working from the ground up. For the next generation, stepping into vacation rentals allows us to diversify our portfolio into another space. We are honored to be part of this.
Shirin: Yes, we are excited about vacation rentals and the STR world! Through decades of operating in the hospitality industry, we indirectly found our passion and path to creating amazing experiences and memories for people. This extends to embracing the owner-centric process. Because, at the end of the day, without the owner, we don’t have an STR world.
Casago: Why did you decide to join forces with Casago?
Impact Holdings: There were various factors that drew us to Casago. Principally, Casago’s focus on building and sustaining relationships with owners and guests aligns with our hospitality background. We have a 40-year track record of taking care of people, as this is a relationship business. We know we have solid hotel experience and we’re just getting started with vacation rentals. With Casago, while we’re striving for perfection, we’re going to run into excellence.
