About

Angler's Lodge & Riverfront Restaurant is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a treat. I enjoyed a meal at this fantastic restaurant, and I have to share about it—with its fantastic views of the Snake River right from your table.

I came down with my significant other for a weekend of relaxation and fly fishing and enjoyed an evening meal at the Island Park Restaurant, which is what it's specifically called onsite.

This is a fine dining establishment with upscale but good food on the menu. We made reservations in advance so we didn't miss out, as I had heard good things. The food was delicious from start to finish, and the entire meal was quite enjoyable.

First, it's super easy to find right on the banks of the river, and it puts you close to most of Yellowstone's fantastic amenities in this area. As you step into the log cabin-like space, I recommend turning around and looking out over the water at the mountains. It’s a spectacular view!

I talked to the staff a bit, and they were all quite nice. They let me know that if there was anything we needed or wanted to change up on the menu, the chef would be happy to help.

The menu isn't huge, but it has something for everyone, including vegetarian options, seafood, steaks, and burgers, too. There is also a whole selection of pasta dishes available for those who want a comforting meal on top of everything else.

I highly recommend making some time to visit Angler’s Lodge & Riverfront Restaurant—internally known as the Island Park Restaurant!

Vibe

This upscale restaurant was quite enjoyable inside and out. It has stone walls, a fabulous wood-paneled dining room, and nothing short of some of the best views in the area.

I found that the ambiance of this location helped to set the tone and vibe for the experience. While it was definitely a bit more upscale, it is still very kid friendly. The staff was really welcoming and engaging throughout the meal.

Angler's Lodge & Riverfront Restaurant: Menu & Drinks

With a smaller menu, I decided to start with an appetizer—the Whipped Ricotta.

This was a very decadent treat. It has housemade ricotta that's whipped to be light and creamy. It then has a bit of mint, sumac, and walnut on top, with a drizzle of honey over it all. It's then served with crostini for dipping and munching.

For the main course, I enjoyed the Spring Cove Ranch Idaho Ribeye.

This was a huge steak with a nice, meaty flavor. The Angus steak was well prepared, just the way I like it, with a slightly warm center. The chef did a great job getting it just to the right temperature. It came with a serving of tempting wild mushrooms and a huckleberry demi glaze. And, of course, there were whipped Yukon potatoes with just the right level of buttery goodness to them.

And finally, after a long conversation and to let our stomachs rest, I decided on a dessert to share with my guest. I enjoyed the Homemade Apple Streusel.

You could easily tell this was made with care and from a time-tested recipe. It was excellent, especially when you get the perfect bite of the crumbly top with a bit of vanilla ice cream.

Local Tips

  • If you want to learn anything about the menu, ask to speak to the chef, Chris Allen, who is a very warm and engaging person.
  • For a less formal meal, consider stopping by for most of the same dishes and others for lunch.
  • For my significant other, the wide range of vegetarian options on the menu was appreciated and tasty.
  • After your meal, enjoy some time sitting on the porch watching the sunset and water move along the riverbanks for the perfect evening.
