About

When it comes to authentic Mexican street food, San Diego shines! So what does this provocative statement have to do with dining in CDA? Simple! Cultura CDA is managed and operated by the Sanchez family, who moved from San Diego to the Pacific Northwest.

And like their restaurant's sign promises, you'll find "Street food with a spin." Trust us, this is the Real McCoy!

When Steven Sanchez discovered that high-quality street tacos weren't available in Coeur d'Alene, he set out to deliver time-honored classics.

The family's journey began in 2021, when they sold freshly made agua frescas at the farmers' market. In 2022, they proudly introduced their signature tacos al pastor. To say that the response was overwhelmingly positive would be an understatement! Lines formed to taste the carefully marinated, spit-roasted pork and handmade tortillas.

The Sanchez's next step was a fully equipped taco trailer serving hungry patrons in the Silver Lake Mall parking lot. With even more success, they secured a popular spot with the East Sherman Food Trucks. As their meteoric rise in popularity continued, the next step was a brick-and-mortar location: Cultura CDA.

The restaurant's location just north of downtown makes it a prime stopping point on a day of adventure. For instance, grab some breakfast tacos on your way to the Kootenai County Farmers Market or swing by after trekking on the North Idaho Centennial Trail.

Visiting Cultura CDA not only lets you taste the best Mexican street food in the area, but it also celebrates a family's dedication, hard work, and perseverance.

Vibe

With one glance at the contemporary exterior, you know you're in for a delightful dining experience. The white walls, industrial roof lighting, and dark awning above the windows offer a refreshing look to CDA's dining landscape.

The painted logo of folded praying hands holding a taco, with the inscription "In Tacos we trust," further reinforces the assurance that good food awaits inside.

The interior features industrial pieces and warm wood tones, clean tilework, strategic lighting, and an open kitchen. Design elements reflect a modern Southern California aesthetic while maintaining a comfortable, approachable Idaho vibe.

The open, spacious dining area is suitable for larger families, while counter seating will appeal to solo travelers or couples looking for a quick bite.

During warmer months, dine al fresco on the patio and soak up the fresh Idaho air while savoring made-to-order street food.

Cultura CDA has an energetic yet low-key vibe, making it the perfect setting to recharge during your action-packed Idaho vacation.

Cultura CDA: Menu & Drinks

Let's begin with the meal that got the ball rolling–the Tacos al Pastor. The pork is marinated in a complex blend of spices and slow-roasted to get caramelized edges and a tender, juicy inside. The pork comes on soft corn tortillas with fresh cilantro, diced white onion, and a touch of pickled red onions. You'll savor the deep, smoky flavors, but be careful: these tacos are habit-forming!

Another highly rated favorite is the Breakfast So-Cal Burrito, an absolute must-try for those with a hearty appetite. Wrapped in a massive handmade flour tortilla, this dish combines slow-roasted al pastor pork, crispy house-cut fries, melted cheese, fluffy eggs, crema, and fresh pico de gallo. The fries add a satisfying crunch and authentic Southern California touch.

The 12-oz Elote Cup features traditional fire-roasted street corn with creamy foam, cotija cheese, and a dusting of Tajin. Served in a cup, it's ideal for on-the-go eating when you're heading to Silver Rapids Waterpark.

The beverages are thirst-quenchers made fresh daily. The Jamaica is a deep-red hibiscus tea with a bright, tart finish, ideal with meals like the al pastor tacos.

The classic Horchata is a creamy, sweet rice drink, heavily spiced with cinnamon, served ice cold. It pairs with spicier menu items, offering a cool, refreshing finish. Finally, the freshly brewed Tamarindo drink delivers a smooth, sweet-and-sour flavor.

For one-of-a-kind, authentic Latino street food, add Cultura CDA to your itinerary. One bite will elevate your Gem State getaway.

The high season begins around Memorial Day and runs through Labor Day. This period draws the most visitors: lakeside activities, hiking, golfing and festivals all hit their stride.

The low season takes hold in the fall and winter months. The crowds thin and the pace becomes calmer. Yet the region still welcomes travelers thanks to excellent skiing nearby and the holiday charm downtown.

Coeur d’Alene fills its calendar with moments that bring the whole town to life.

As daylight fades, the lake turns glassy and still before the fireworks begin.
