About

The adage of “good things come in small packages” is the story of Seis Kitchen. In 2012, Jake and Erika Muñoz opened the original Seis Kitchen as a food truck. The name “Seis” means “six” in Spanish, which corresponds to the six Mexican regions the menu represents: Northern, Baja, Oaxaca, Western, Yucatán, and Southern Mexico.

The food truck was a hit, attracting foodies across Tucson who lined up for scratch-made meals and fresh ingredients. Jake and Erika Muñoz put in the work of slow-roasting meats, blending salsas by hand, and making sure every bite was true to its origins.

In time, their efforts paid off with praise from the community, awards from local media, and longer lines! In fact, the demand for their authentic cuisine became so big that the food truck could no longer keep up.

In 2017, the Muñoz family made a big move, opening their first brick-and-mortar at Mercado San Agustin. Aside from the much-needed space, it allowed the team to grow the menu while keeping the same standards that made them a local favorite.

Since then, Seis Kitchen has grown with locations in Joesler Village and Oro Valley. What hasn’t changed is their focus on authentic recipes and fresh ingredients.

Vibe

With several locations, we’ll focus on the Mercado San Agustin, which features classic Spanish Colonial style. The crisp white stucco walls and graceful arches hint at Tucson’s history, while the entrance is charming, welcoming everyone seeking quality food and enjoyable company.

The interior matches modern touches with a cozy, rustic feel. Clear signage makes ordering easy, while the open view into the kitchen brings an exciting sense of movement.

The atmosphere is lively and easygoing, with families, college students, and visitors sharing space and conversation. Be prepared for friendly chatter and people laughing and conversing.

The courtyard is a popular dining spot, with umbrella-covered tables shaded by tall trees. Dining outdoors means catching the desert breeze while enjoying a Mexican meal.

These qualities make Seis Kitchen an ideal spot to unwind and soak up the spirit of an Arizona vacation.

Seis Kitchen: Menu & Drinks

With a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu, we can’t possibly list all of the delicious choices. While we’ll focus on the dinner options, be sure to peruse the other menus to discover the many wonderful food options available.

The Street Tacos are a must and showcase regional meats and toppings. The Yucatan-inspired Cochinita Pibil is unforgettable, with slow-roasted pork, achiote, and sour orange, wrapped in banana leaves to keep it juicy and full of flavor. Each serving comes with pickled red onions for a tangy bite.

Guests also love the Seis Style Burrito when they need a hearty dish featuring their choice of meat, rice, beans, cheese, and guacamole. The Al Pastor features pork marinated in dried chiles, spices, and pineapple, which adds both heat and a hint of sweetness. Every burrito comes wrapped in a top-quality flour tortilla, finished on the grill for a warm, slightly crisp bite.

Drinks at Seis Kitchen are the perfect match for bold flavors, like the House Horchata. This traditional rice milk drink is flavored with cinnamon and just the right amount of sweetness, making it a refreshing way to cool off after a spicy bite.

Margaritas are on point, with many varieties, some crafted with tequila and others with smoky mezcal. Whether you order a spicy or fruity blend, there’s a marg that pairs perfectly with your dinner.

From a food truck to one of Tucson’s iconic hotspots, Seis Kitchen is a tasty, wallet-friendly way to explore Mexico’s regional flavors without ever leaving Tucson. Every dish tells a story, making this spot an easy choice to add something special to any Arizona getaway.
