Fun Facts & Cool Features

One fun fact about the Sandpiper Golf Club goes back to WWII. Long before it was a golf course, it was the site of ARCO, which produced crude oil. In 1942, a Japanese submarine surfaced and fired a shell at the refinery. While the damage was minimal, the attack triggered fear on the West Coast of a Japanese invasion. Today, you can see remnants of the refinery as you golf.

One of Sandpiper's standout features is its stunning oceanfront holes, particularly the iconic 15th hole. With elevated tee boxes providing panoramic views, golfers are treated to a surreal backdrop. This hole is cited as one of the most picturesque and challenging in the area.

Another highlight is the club's commitment to maintaining a family-friendly environment. With various membership options, it caters to serious golfers and those looking to enjoy a leisurely day on the green. The Sandpiper Grill offers delicious meals with stunning views of the course landscape. For a more intimate dining experience, restaurants like Zaytoon are a short drive away.

Additionally, the club features a well-stocked pro shop, providing visitors with everything needed for a perfect day of golf, from equipment to apparel. The knowledgeable staff is available to offer advice and assistance, ensuring that every guest feels welcomed and valued.

Visiting Sandpiper Golf Club during a trip to Santa Barbara is truly worthwhile. The challenging golf, stunning scenery, and welcoming atmosphere make for an ideal outing.
