Great getaway
Views - these are great. The house itself may use some maintenance.
We enjoyed the endless views this property had to offer. The home was beautiful inside, full kitchen, lots of space, three full baths of which 2 offered jacuzzi tubs. A downstairs for family hangout. Close to Cooks beach and short drive to downtown Gualala and Pt Arena.
We came for Thanksgiving. The house was large, clean, and well decorated. The views from the front-facing windows were fantastic from sunrise to sunset. The bedrooms and mattresses were all very comfortable. The bathrooms, one per bedroom, were well equipped and clean (warning: low-boy toilets especially for my 6’ 4” sons). The TV room downstairs was very comfortable and great for movies. The heating worked well. The kitchen was large enough with good counter space but there were some serious issues in the kitchen. The stove: oven does not maintain temperature it varied between 380 and 180 when set to 325 (thermostat not working) . This was verified with our ThermoWorks temperature probe. As a result, our turkey was very unevenly cooked (we had a probe in the breast and thigh). We got some overcooked breast meat and some cooked leg meat. The rest was not cooked. It could not be left in longer or the meat that was cooked would be way overcooked. We have professional a 6-burner gas stovetop and double gas ovens at home and are thoroughly familiar with operating gas appliances. Several stovetop burners needed to be lit manually. Many burner igniters did not work. The center front burner caused the igniter to engage on back right burner with gas being on for the front center burner. Turning on the back right burner also caused its igniter to engage but the burner needed to be lit manually. The dishwasher: The door hinge was damaged such that the door would not close – the catch was not lined up. Not giving up easily, I continued to try to manipulate the door into a position until the catch would line up properly so I could force it to close so we could wash the dishes. After about 10 minutes of manipulating the door position I got it aligned. We continued to use it this way throughout our stay. (This was the third rental through Vacasa in a row at Sea Ranch and here where the dishwasher did not work. Cleaners should notice that the door was broken and report it to be fixed We would certainly rent this place again and recommend it if the kitchen appliances were guaranteed to work. Front door Lock: The two buttons for on a mortise lock are automatically set to the lock position when the key is use to unlock the front door. This is very dangerous because if you leave the keys on the table while you step out you are locked out.
