Instructors do more than just spend time with you in the water. They offer a holistic experience that covers ocean safety, wave dynamics, and riding techniques.

One of the coolest aspects of Pismo Beach Surf Academy is its size. Because it's family-owned, you get an intimate experience and not a cookie-cutter "one size fits all" training. You'll also have your epic moments captured to share on social media! The academy offers free pictures and videos of your surfing adventure, ensuring you'll have digital proof you rode the waves!  

A fun fact, and an impressive one at that, is that Rod builds his surfboards. These custom beauties are available to rent and purchase and reflect Rod's skills as a designer and his passion for the sport. 

When you book your lesson, you can have a private one-on-one or a private group instruction. They also offer group lessons for a discounted price. Whichever package you sign up for, all lessons come with a surfboard to use and a wetsuit to keep you warm.   

If you're vacationing in the summer, check out the Summer Camp for kids 5-17. This action-packed deal is perfect for beginners or experienced surfers, but pre-registration is required.

• Head southwest on Avila Beach Drive toward 1st Street.
• Merge onto US-101 South.
• Continue on US-101 South for about 6.5 miles.
• Take Exit 191B for Price Street toward downtown Pismo Beach.
• Turn Right onto Price Street.
• Turn Left onto Pomeroy Avenue.
• Follow Pomeroy Avenue down to the beach; Pismo Beach Surf Academy is near the pier.
