Northern New Mexico

Northern New Mexico's dramatic landscape, defined by vast mesas and the rugged Sangre de Cristo Mountains, sits at the cultural crossroads of Native American, Spanish colonial, and Anglo traditions, creating a uniquely Southwestern atmosphere.

From Santa Fe to Taos and beyond, visitors are drawn to the region's blend of outdoor adventure, rich history, and artistic heritage. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy world-class skiing, hiking, and mountain biking, while art and history lovers explore ancient pueblos, Georgia O’Keeffe’s legacy, and renowned art markets.

The region’s adobe architecture reflects its deep history, rooted in the traditions of the Ancestral Puebloans and preserved in landmarks like Taos Pueblo. Santa Fe, the oldest U.S. state capital (est. 1610), celebrates its cultural fusion through vibrant festivals, distinctive cuisine, and a thriving arts scene. Named Travel & Leisure’s top U.S. city in 2025, Santa Fe captivates with its natural beauty and dynamic spirit.

Ski enthusiasts drawn to New Mexico’s slopes can enjoy the 84-mile Enchanted Circle that connects communities to towering mountain tops, alpine lakes, and dense pine forests. Departing from Taos, and with Wheeler Peak at its center, this scenic byway winds through small towns as it makes its way past world-class outdoor recreation spots in Red River and Angel Fire.

Travelers to Northern New Mexico can expect enchantment any time of the year as this region offers a rare combination of high-altitude adventure, deep cultural heritage, and a persistent spirit.

Long before launching Sierra Sol, Gemma & James discovered something special in Northern New Mexico for their British-Texan family of six. For years, this region has provided a place for their family to reconnect, slow down, and create lasting memories - from teaching their four children to ski in Angel Fire to summer hikes through alpine forests, and evenings spent enjoying the art, culture, food, and adobe architecture of Santa Fe and Taos.

Inspired by their love for the region, along with a shared passion for real estate, travel, and hospitality, Gemma & James created Sierra Sol to offer something rare in vacation rental management: elevated hospitality backed by lived experience.

Gemma & James have built Sierra Sol from that perspective, with a vision to create exceptional stays for guests and meaningful stewardship for homeowners across the places they love most.

Sierra Sol is guided by three principles that shape the Elevated Promises serving as the North Star for five-star guest experiences, proactive home care, and trusted homeowner partnerships:
