Since 2002, Kona Heaven Coffee has been serving what it describes as "farm-to-cup" coffee. How is this possible? The family's coffee plantation is 12.75 miles from the cafe! You'll discover this claim on signs in its Coconut Grove Marketplace location.

Maria and David Nakamura founded the cafe formerly known as Kona Haven Coffee. They changed the name in 2015 to better suit their renewed vision. With their vast knowledge of coffee farming and passion for a cafe reflecting community, flavor, and tradition, Kona Heaven Coffee has grown.

Their plantation is on the lush slopes of Mauna Loa, one of Hawaii's iconic volcanoes. Known as the Kona Coffee Belt, this area offers ideal conditions for cultivating world-class coffee. The nutrient-rich volcanic soil, consistent rainfall, and perfect balance of sunshine and cloud cover ensure every bean grows to its fullest potential. 

Along with delicious-tasting Kona coffee, the shop serves breakfast and lunch. The menu offers fresh baked goods to savory sandwiches. Such convenience makes it a first stop before launching your day at attractions like Kiholo Bay or Wawaloli Beach Park.

This quaint eatery has earned quite a reputation. Men's Journal named it one of the "40 Best Coffee Shops in the US." But the long lines and upbeat reviews on social media could have told you that news!

Vibe

It is on the corner and ground level in the Coconut Grove Marketplace, making it easy to find and offering picturesque ocean views. 

The open-air design is inviting and offers a relaxed island vibe. The patio is ideal for romantic dates, get-togethers, or relaxing after an immersive seahorse experience at Ocean Rider Inc. 

The interior blends natural woods and soft marine colors to create a welcoming ambiance. The lighting warmly bathes the store's decor, and a multi-colored chalkboard menu hangs behind the servers. Also prominent is a sign boasting that every cup of java is "12.75 Miles from Our Farm." It's a claim you'll appreciate with your first sip of coffee. 

Around the coroner are bags of coffee beans, souvenir cups and saucers, and other items. There was also a cold display housing juices, water, and soft drinks. In addition to coffee drinks, the cafe serves smoothies, simple breakfast and lunch options, and ice cream. 

Whether you just came in from the surf or you're looking for a place to unwind after shopping, Kona Heaven Coffee will please everyone in your group.

Kona Haven Coffee: Menu & Drinks

The menu celebrates Kona flavors and the art of coffee-making. Their signature offering is 100% Kona Coffee, known for its smooth, rich taste with subtle hints of chocolate and nutty undertones. 

A crowd favorite is the Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Latte. This creamy and indulgent twist on the classic coffee experience is Aloha in a cup!

Cold brew enthusiasts will enjoy the iced Kona cold brew. Known for its smooth and bold flavor, it's your go-to on warm days.

The Lava Latte is a signature drink consisting of an iced vanilla latte, ice cream, and Oreos. It's a sweet caffeine pick-me-up that will have you returning for more!

The food offerings will appeal to a wide range of tastes. The avocado toast is a crowd favorite. The fresh-baked bread is topped with local avocados and a sprinkle of sea salt, making it a healthy starter for a day at the beach. 

If you have a penchant for sweetness, try the banana macadamia nut bread. This delectable treat is baked daily using fresh, local ingredients, ensuring a melt-in-your-mouth experience.  

Check out the tropical fruit bowls if you need a lighter yet healthy meal. Each is packed with locally sourced papayas, mangos, and pineapples, providing a refreshing start to any morning. These are perfect to grab to eat on the long drive to Hawai'i Tropical Bioreserve & Garden.
