About

"Not fancy, just good!" is the claim on the website for The Sea Shack. With over 20 years of serving fresh seafood, they have, and still are, living up to that moniker!

This go-to hotspot opened in the late 1990s, thanks to Gary and Kelly Williams. The couple focused on made-to-order dishes showcasing the area's fresh seafood. They also kept the vibe low-key, making the restaurant an authentic Lowcountry beach shack. The result: a landmark eatery on HHI!

In 2004, Robert Banks took over but stayed true to The Sea Shack's mission. Today, it's a bustling business, with folks lined up to order delicious, fresh seafood. While the lines can be long, don't fret. The service is swift, and the food is well worth the wait!

Located off Pope Avenue, it's convenient to some of Hilton Head's top attractions. Just down the road is the award-winning Coligny Beach Park, considered to be one of America's best family-friendly beaches. Also nearby is the Robert Trent Jones Oceanfront Golf Course, featuring top-rated golfing. Legendary Golf is perfect for the family, with its challenging miniature course and Country Club theme. No matter what you end up doing, you're very close to grabbing a meal at The Sea Shack.

While there are a plethora of upscale restaurants in Hilton Head, it's nice to know The Sea Shack exists, offering superb fare in a laid-back setting.

Vibe

Set back from Executive Park Road, the restaurant resembles a home rather than a "sea shack." While it's a two-story facility, only the bottom floor is the restaurant. The sand-colored facade adds to the homey look, as do the dark shutters and Spanish moss-laden mature trees.

Several picnic tables line the front, while off to one side, a tarp-covered area features an abundance of dining spots.

The inside is narrow, but the layout makes the most of its space. The counter and cook area take up the most room, while a handful of four-tops with blue-and-white checkerboard tablecloths dot the room.

What helps keep the room from being too cluttered is the lack of servers. Instead, you order at the counter, and drinks are self-serve.

Whether you dine indoors or at the picnic tables, the website's catchphrase says it all: "Not fancy, just good!"

The Sea Shack: Menu & Drinks

Before we explore the seafood, they also offer burgers and a few salads for those who prefer land options. But with "sea" in its name, rest assured that most choices involve seafood! Speaking of which, you'll find everything from peel-and-eat shrimp, Po Boys, platters, and sandwiches.

With so many starters, one option is to combine them into a tapas-style dining experience. From calamari to alligator tail, frog legs, crab cakes, shrimp, and scallops, you can combine, experiment, and savor some of the Lowcountry's best offerings.

After a day of swimming at Burkes Beach, satisfy your big appetite with the Shark Attack Combo. This hearty platter showcases crabcakes, fish, shrimp, scallops, and oysters, all grilled, fried, or blackened. It also comes with one side, cole slaw, and hushpuppies.

The Combos are perfect for sharing or sampling some foods you're curious about. You may select either two or three of the following: popcorn shrimp, clams, crab cakes, calamari, oysters, shrimp, catfish, tilapia, conch, or flounder. Alligator and scallops come with an additional cost. Like most menu items, you may order these fried, grilled, or blackened.

Also noteworthy are the Po Boys, showcasing fried seafood with one side, coleslaw, and hush puppies. The sandwiches come with coleslaw on one side and hushpuppies, and you can have your fish fried, grilled, or blackened.

While they don't serve alcohol, you'll find self-serve sweet tea and assorted fountain soft drinks.

Visiting The Sea Shack is a rite of passage on your Hilton Head Island getaway, offering superb food in a low-key atmosphere.
