Mesquite Creek Outfitters

About

Mesquite Creek Outfitters is locally known as "Georgetown's Livingroom" because it has such a vibe. It's the perfect place to come and get a drink and relax with friends or make new friends.

It's more than just a beer spot, though. With a full gear shop, you can pick up anything you need for your next trek out on a hike or just about any other gear you need.

And the apparel here is really cool, too, with plenty of unique things to find. I love all the stylish men's and women's outdoor clothing and jewelry—some of which you can’t find anywhere else.

This cozy spot offers local beer on tap, wine, and some great couch-worthy food. I recommend coming in, doing some shopping to pick up a few things, and then relaxing with a cold one.

Vibe

This cool spot is a hip cross between a beer stop, lounge, and apparel store. Casual and rustic, with a country feel to it, Mesquite Creek Outfitters in Highland Lakes, Texas, welcomes everyone.

It's relaxing and just the place where you can belly up to the bar or relax at one of the tables. There's also the lounge area when you need the ultimate comfort.

If you could cross Patagonia, Urban Outfitters, and a beer stop all into one, that's what you would have in Mesquite Creek Outfitters. It’s an incredible place with a fun loungy, shop-y vibe!

Super comfortable—the couches and seating area really make you want to relax and converse with others in between shopping. It's definitely hard not to want to stay here all day.

And while the location isn't strictly adults-only, it's not the typical location for smaller kids.

Mesquite Creek Outfitters: Menu & Drinks

There are a lot of things to love about Mesquite, including that all of the beer on tap is local. You may find some others out there, but that's what this location is really known for offering.

If you're looking for an ice-cold beer, I suggest the Dive Bar Brunch Stout. It's a dark beer, so it has a lot of flavor and depth to it. It's a mix of coffee and chocolate and creates a smooth, tasty beer that's hard to beat.

They also have a Blackberry Cider that is excellent. The Crackberry Cider is its own thing, with cranberry and blackberry together. It's tart and full of body. You'll find a lot of other options on the menu, including Imperial and German-Style IPAs.

As far as food goes, there are a few things here, mostly options that will help to tide you over so you don't have to leave too soon.

The light menu offers things like a meat and cheese tray and a Rueben sandwich that's pretty good. They also have some gourmet pizzas, which you can customize based on what they have available.

It's not a huge menu, but sharing a flatbread and a charcuterie board with some wine and craft beer is the best way to spend the evening, in my opinion!

Local Tips

  • It's an excellent location for gear, too, and not just beer (make sure you shop around because there are lots of items here I haven't found at other shops.)
  • If you want a bigger meal, I suggest stopping in at Mesquite for drinks and shopping and then heading over to Wildfire Steak, which is just a block or so away. You'll find plenty of other locations for bigger meals, too.
  • They also launched MCO Grocery Co, which is a line of groceries that you can order to have delivered to your door—I guess they just do it all here!
  • If you don't have a lot of experience with local beers, go with a flight so that you can check out a few different versions to find out which is best for your needs.
