The city of Hazelwood is near St. Louis, considered a second-ring suburb of the bigger city. It's home to over 25,000 people. With direct access to the St. Louis Lambert International Airport and I-270 and I-70, it's easy to get to the city. Once there, visitors will find a modern city with a wide range of amenities. Many come to stay here while visiting the many attractions and amenities in St. Louis itself.
Hazelwood is a family-friendly location. Those visiting are sure to notice the St. Louis Getaway Arch, which towers over the region. It's the tallest monument in the country. Aside from this, the city is also close to Busch Stadium for those who want to take in an MLB Cardinals game. Nearby, there are wineries to explore, along with a range of breweries and numerous restaurants. Though many come to explore all that St. Louis has to offer, some of the smaller parks and family-owned restaurants in Hazelwood make the best destinations.
The city itself is a combination of quiet residential areas and industrial parks. It is an area that was once the home to a large Ford plant and grew as a manufacturing city as a result. There are a number of warehouses and buildings that date from that time here. Various other companies call the city their headquarters or have operations located here. As a working town, those that live here tend to do so because of the stronger economy and the overall demand for affordable housing outside of the city. Still, it's only a short drive into St. Louis or the airport, making it a desirable place to call home.
For those looking to find fun things to do in and around Hazelwood, there are a few fun locations to stop at to explore. The St. Louis Outlet Mall is one of them. It's a simple, easy-to-navigate outdoor mall that is known for its good pricing and deals. A few smaller restaurants exist here, too.
For those who have a need for some adventure, the Rusty Wallace Karting Center is the perfect place to visit. It offers modern go karts that are a lot of fun to zip around the track with, outracing others. This park also offers bumper boats, video games, mini-golf, and a few small food stands. It's an all day play center.
The Saint Stanislaus Conservation Area is another place to visit. It has a lot of history and nature to offer. It's named after a seminary that used to use the location for retreats. It's still possible to see the building foundations tucked away into this forested area. Hikers love this location for its steep, more challenging climbs. If you reach the top, you can see the Missouri River from a whole new view.
It's also only a short drive to many of St. Louis's popular attractions, including the Gateway Arch National Park. You can also take a narrated cruise down the river or spend some time at one of the sports games in the region. That includes visiting the Gateway Grizzlies at the GCS Ballpark or catching the St. Louis City SC soccer team. Be sure to check out Ballpark Village, an entertainment district nearby.
There are some fun places to catch a meal in Hazelwood as well. Though you may find some of the smallest locations not readily available online, there are a few stands outs. Redbirds Sports Bar is one of them. This is a good place to catch the big game as well as to spend some time enjoying your favorite beer and drinks with friends.
Another fun place to visit is Kaslik Mediterranean Cuisine. It offers a wide range of Mediterranean foods that are made fresh each day. It is the type of place you can visit for any meal and know you're getting the very best.
