About
Taquilo's has been in business for just under a decade, opening their doors in June 2016. Since then, they've been serving up authentic, quality Tex-Mex cuisine in Galveston. They're also famous for their margaritas. Need we say more?
At Taquilo's, you can bet that you are getting the freshest ingredients. They pride themselves on their high quality proteins such as chicken, shrimp, or Certified Angus Beef. All of which are available in their award-winning fajitas!
The environment and vibe here is upbeat and fun, yet casual and relaxed. The walls bear striking colors such as bright blue, yellow, and purple. Throughout the restaurant, there is ample seating. From bar stools to regular dining chairs and comfortable booths. In addition, there is covered patio seating available.
This is a very popular restaurant throughout the week due to their generous happy hour and lunch specials on Monday-Friday. They are actually known for having one of the hottest happy hours on the island! Happy hour is available from 11-7PM. Enjoy discounted margaritas, draft beer, and appetizers. During lunch, enjoy some of their most popular specials for less. Choose from dishes such as Baja Shrimp Tacos, Fiesta Plate, and El Jefe.
We recommend trying these from Taquilo's:
Chicken Besos
These are a Taquilo's specialty and crowd-pleaser! Perfect for sharing, this appetizer includes eight jalapenos. They are queso fresco stuffed, chicken-bacon wrapped, and char-grilled. They also come with a tangy chipotle aioli for dipping.
Award-winning Fajitas
You can't go wrong with one of their fajita platters! Choose from your choice of shrimp, chicken, beef, or veggie. Alternatively, you can select a mixed protein platter. For example, you can get a little taste of everything with the Taquilo's Mixed Grill. This includes Certified Angus Beef, chicken fajitas, shrimp besos, and vegetables. All fajita plates come with fresh flour tortillas, rice, pico de gallo, and guacamole.
Specialty Margaritas
Try one of their specialty margaritas! You can order these on the rocks or blended to perfection. The Coco Rita and Sangrita are popular choices. In the Coco Rita, you have 1800 Tequila Reserva Coconut as your base. Additionally, they add cream of coconut, pineapple juice, and sweet and sour. Finally, it's topped with Grand Marnier. On the other hand, the Sangrita comes with Jose Cuervo Silver Tequila as the base. They add triple sec and house sangria. This is a frozen cocktail and it's one of the favorites!
