About

Sometimes, the best ideas start with a casual chat among friends. That's exactly how The Toasted Owl Café got started.

While on a walk through Downtown Flagstaff, Cecily Maniaci saw a storefront for rent in a bank along Birch Avenue. The kitchen was tiny, but it was all she needed to combine her passion for vintage things, people, and good food.

The rest, as they say, is history. The Toasted Owl Café opened in 2013, filled with Cecily's collection of owl memorabilia and serving her now-famous breakfast burrito and rotating dishes.

With its popularity growing, the café was bursting at the seams. Cecily found an old house a mile away at 12 Mike's Pike, on a stretch known as Historic Route 66. She remodeled the whole place, adding a new kitchen, more dining space, and, of course, plenty of room for owls!

One standout addition was the 1,200-square-foot patio out front for guests with pets. Satisfied that her new location was ready, she opened it in 2015.

And yet, demand kept growing! By March 2017, a second location opened on Flagstaff's east side, along with franchises in the Phoenix area.

Aside from mouth-watering breakfasts, the Toasted Owl's central location makes it the perfect launch pad for a day of sightseeing. Arrive when they open for a hearty breakfast before heading out on a hike in the Coconino National Forest.

Whether you're looking for a morning spot before you explore Arizona's wonders or need a casual lunch with the family, visit the multi-award-winning Toasted Owl Café.

Vibe

With locations popping up everywhere, we'll be focusing on the Mikes Pike café. This former home, its clapboards painted gray, exudes a welcoming vibe, especially with the expansive front patio.

Walk through the red front door, and you'll enter an eclectic room filled with vintage finds and retro décor. As your eye takes in the owl figurines, artwork, and other treasures, keep in mind that everything is for sale. It's like dining in a boutique.

The mood, like the furnishings, is upbeat and friendly. It's the perfect spot to catch up with friends, unwind with family, or open the laptop and do some work.

There are plenty of seating options, with rooms containing a mix of tables. The bar, with vintage bar stools, offers an even more casual setting, while the patio with umbrella-covered tables is the most popular spot, especially on nice days.

So stop by and let the café's relaxed and quirky ambiance further enhance your Arizona vacation.

The Toasted Owl Café: Menu & Drinks

What will impress you are the hearty options on both the breakfast and lunch menus. Everything is made with fresh ingredients, and there are plenty of gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan meals. While everything is yummy, we'll highlight some standouts to whet your appetite.

When you need a hearty breakfast that's also a comfort food, you can't go wrong with the Owls Nest. This meal features a nest of potatoes covered with melted cheese and jalapenos, black olives, chopped onions, and veggies. As if that's not enough, the chorizo and scrambled eggs put it over the top!

You'll also find pancakes, French toast, and Gluten-free almond cakes. The omelets and scrambles are stick-to-your-ribs choices, while the build-a-breakfasts let you craft a creative burrito, taco, or bowl.

Moving on to the lunch menu, try the Beet Salad for something light yet nutritious. The salad features roasted beets, mixed greens, dried cherries, fresh blueberries, walnuts, and goat cheese. It comes with creamy balsamic dressing on the side, and you may add chicken for an additional cost.

Sometimes, all you need is a juicy burger, and the Owlzona Burgers deliver. From the classic to the mushroom or the jalapeno handheld, there's something for everyone.

On the drinks side, the Mimosas and Bloody Marys pair well with brunch, especially on the sun-soaked patio.

The Toasted Owl Café promises to not only satisfy your hunger but also offer you a distinct dining experience while in Flagstaff.
