About
Historic charm and modern American cuisine are waiting for you at Josephine's Restaurant!
Located in Downtown Flagstaff, this eatery is in a 1911 Craftsman Bungalow, featuring local Coconino sandstone and lush landscaping. To say that the curb appeal is jaw-dropping is an understatement!
The building was originally a private home for the Babbitt-Polson family, who were prominent figures in the early development of Northern Arizona. This connection to Flagstaff's past has garnered a spot on the National Register of Historic Places.
While its history and vibe are important, it's the cuisine that truly shines. Enter Chef and owner Tony Cosentino, who opened Josephine's Restaurant in 2002, naming it after his grandmother, Josephine. She instilled in him a deep appreciation for cooking and hospitality.
Along with his grandmother's influence, Cosentino brought years of culinary expertise to the restaurant. He's combined these passions to create a menu that blends classical preparation methods with modern American flavors. Best of all, and with a tip of the hat to Josephine herself, Chef Cosentino created a homey vibe.
Whether you visit after burning calories at Arizona Snowbowl or crave fine dining, Josephine's Restaurant will enhance your Flagstaff vacation.
Vibe
As we alluded to earlier, the exterior is picture-worthy. The Craftsman bungalow features a low-pitched roof, wide eaves, and a welcoming front porch. The warm stone and dark wood trim create an inviting facade, while the ivy growing up the building adds an earthy feel.
The interior remains true to its past, with wood coffer ceiling, flooring, and wainscot, adding warmth and class to the room. The wooden four-top tables feature white linens, while the original stone fireplace serves as a stunning centerpiece. These combine to create a cozy and intimate dining area.
The atmosphere is anything but pretentious, instead modeling the bistro vibe listed on its sign. This vibe makes dining here suitable for a romantic dinner or a casual meal after an afternoon at Lowell Observatory.
Additionally, bar seating offers a more laid-back meal, while the outdoor patio with garden is idyllic in the warmer months.
