About

South of Cancun is the sleepy fishing town of Puerto Morelos. Tucked between street vendors is Puerto Knna, which offers fresh, tasty Latin-inspired fare. The restaurant is also known as Boquinete Seafood & Grill on its Facebook page and signage, but rest assured they're the same.

Located in the stunning coastal town of Puerto Morelos, this spot is well-known for its innovative seafood dishes and beach vibe. It's the type of place where flip-flops and toes-in-the-sand dining are the norm.

Boquinete translates to “hogfish,” a popular choice in Quintana Roo for seafood dishes. While the fish is available at the eatery, the menu is rich with choices like ceviche, pasta, and tacos.

The ambiance is another draw to the restaurant. One of its standout features is the breathtaking waterfront view. The glistening azure water never disappoints, whether on the palapa-covered deck or the beach.

Its location makes it easy to visit on a road trip. Should you decide to combine visiting Valladolid with Chichén-Itzá, Puerto Morelos is a short drive away. Another option is visiting the awe-inspiring Tulum Archaeological Site and Cenotes Dos Ojos (Two Eyes Cenote) with your meal at Boquinete. The combinations are endless!

Adding this hotspot to your vacation itinerary promises savory food, a chill vibe, and picturesque views of the Caribbean.

Vibe

It’s easy to miss the restaurant driving down the main drag. The rows of street vendors can obscure the entrance, so keep an eye out for the white, two-story building. Additionally, the striking blue and white Boquinete sign is one-sided and only visible when heading south on Rafael E. Melgar.

Now that the difficult part is over, you can relax inside. The open-air interior has an elevated palapa-style roof with generous seating. The decor features light-colored wood tables and woven chair accents.

The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, striking a perfect balance for diners. Some evenings, musicians and singers provide a gentle background of music. The family-friendly atmosphere will also appeal to groups or couples, with the vibe welcoming all.

While every seat offers panoramic views of the Caribbean, dining on the sand is the quintessential must-do. Here, sunset dining is elevated to new levels as the immersive experience connects cuisine with nature and conversation.

For an off-the-beaten-path vibe, dine at Boquinet when visiting Puerto Morelos.

Puerto Knna: Menu & Drinks

The menu offers various selections, making it appealing to those with the pickiest eaters.

Launch your dining adventure with the Tostada Baja. This refreshing starter features tuna or salmon tostada, avocado puree, garlic aioli, and corn ash.

The ceviche offerings feature daring spices and texture combinations, making it another top appetizer or dinner pick. A standout is the Aguachile that honors Sinaloa flavors. The ceviche features fresh shrimp and fish, cucumber, cilantro, and red onions.

A lunch favorite is the tacos, which come in three per order. The Jaiba Suave is a game-changer with its unique flavors and textures. Soft corn tortillas come with fried soft-shell crab encrusted in pumpkin seeds. The avocado and habanero mayonnaise add the right amount of heat and sweat, harmonizing all the ingredients.

After burning calories snorkeling or diving at National Reef Park of Puerto Morelos, consider any of the entrees from the grill.

The grilled shrimp are prepared Nayarit style over hot coals and generous spices like adobo. The meal comes with polenta and vegetables.

The Cortes Carne will appeal to steak lovers. Your ribeye or New York cut is grilled to your liking and comes with stir-fried potatoes with rosemary and grilled Mexican corn.

The drink menu at Boquinete is equally impressive, boasting signature cocktails that reflect the laid-back coastal vibe. The Sunset Boquinete is a tropical medley featuring fresh citrus and a kick of local tequila.

For those looking for something lighter, the house white wine complements seafood dishes beautifully.

The food and drinks create a sensory experience that elevates your Cancun getaway. The quality of ingredients, charming setting, and regional flavors make every meal at Puerto Knna (Boquinete Seafood & Grill) memorable.
