Pinewood Haus ~ Beautiful & Convenient 1960s Cabin w/ Wood Stove, near Skiing & Lake Attractions
Pinewood Haus is a modified A-frame, named the Li'l Cabin in the Woods during the infancy of Big Bear's evolution to a ski town. Built in 1968, this home remains an architectural icon of 1960s Big Bear and a peaceful, all-seasons mountain retreat for friends and family alike.
Ideally located on a quiet cul-de-sac in the desirable Fox Farm area, within minutes of Big Bear's ski resorts and village, Pinewood Haus is central to all of Big Bear's attractions and conveniences while offering the blissful feeling of seclusion. Easy access to local routes helps you avoid peak season traffic.
Pinewood Haus feels warm and charming, bringing you back to days gone by. But don't let the nostalgia fool you - this well-maintained cabin is cute, comfortable, and full of modern conveniences. Enjoy high ceilings, plentiful natural light throughout, a corner fireplace to set the cozy mountain mood, and central heating to keep you thoroughly toasty. Mountain breezes whispering through the pines cool the house in summertime.
Settle into that warm cabin feeling by streaming your favorite shows on the Smart TV or utilizing the complimentary Wi-Fi. Other accommodations include a handy washer/dryer located off the hallway from the vintage kitchen, which is fully appointed with appliances, pots, pans, utensils, coffee makers (drip and French press), a kettle, and a grinder. The private bedroom on the main level features a queen-size bed, while the open and airy loft offers two full beds. The retro living room has full-size sleeper sofa. The bathroom is simple and features a large walk-in shower.
Outside, commune with nature by spending time on the quaint wood decks. The front deck faces the quiet neighboring homes, with flat easy access off the cul-de-sac (there are no arduous driveways to get to Pinewood Haus - a bonus in the winter months). The back faces the pines in the 12,600-square-foot open lot.

So clean, so tidy! Great location for every activity! The owners have thought of everything! We'd stay here again, hands down!
My family and I were impressed by the warm hospitality and attention to detail. This home was clean and well decorated, providing a cozy and comfortable retreat throughout our stay. The location was fantastic, offering easy access to big bear shuttles and snowboarding resort. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this home to future guests. I will be booking again, thank you for having such a peaceful place I could enjoy!!
We had the pleasure of staying at this fabulous mountain cabin in Big Bear, and it truly exceeded my expectations! The cabin is incredibly spacious, offering plenty of room to relax and unwind. The check-in process was seamless and a breeze, which made getting settled in super easy. The fast Wi-Fi was a huge plus, allowing us to stay connected and enjoy streaming without any issues. The lighting throughout the cabin was perfect—bright yet cozy, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The place was also very well stocked with everything we needed, from kitchen essentials to extra blankets and towels, making our stay super comfortable. The only downside was that there wasn't a hot tub, which would've been a nice touch after a long day of hiking or exploring the area. However, this was a minor detail compared to all the positives! Overall, I highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a spacious, well-equipped retreat in Big Bear. It's a perfect getaway for relaxation and adventure alike!
Very comfortable, very intuitive setup. Host was very easy to work with. I even loved the decor.
Overall, I'd give this rental a 9/10. The unit and furniture is old, but everything worked properly. Most of the complaints I have I consider minor. The heater worked well, but it did give me a stuffy nose. I think the HVAC filter needs to be changed. The in unit washer/dryer was helpful. Management provides soap for two loads of laundry but no dryer sheets. There are ample pots/pans and seasoning but no cooking oil provided. Recommend you bring your own or go to the grocery store a short 5 minute drive away. Management will periodically come and plow snow from the driveway, but it's intermittent throughout the day. When I got there for check in, I had to shovel the driveway myself. They have a shovel in unit. This was not a big deal for me, but could be for others. Like other reviews indicate, there were a couple spiders that I had to kill when I got there.
We enjoyed our time away from reality. The cabin was warm and inviting. Well appointed-we even baked! Played games and watched movies. Thank you!
