About
I came upon Wild West Pizzeria & Saloon while traveling in the area, and I am so happy I did.
There are a lot of small locations in West Yellowstone, but nothing compares to this hot spot. This location is fantastic in terms of the look, feel, food, and people, and I definitely recommend checking it out.
I did some research to learn a bit more about it, and I learned it opened up in 1999 and has just gotten better since then. Owned and founded by Aaron Hecht, he opened the doors with the goal of perfecting the pizza in the area, and I think he really did a great job.
There are a few reasons why I think that’s the case. First, they use a lot of fresh ingredients, and a lot of it is scratch-made, which is something that I don’t see happening at other locations nearby. I asked about the sauce and was told it’s a passed-down recipe, but you can tell it’s cooked low and slow for a while. They also use Wisconsin cheese and lots of it.
And while the pizza here is excellent, they also have live music on an ongoing basis, and that means there’s lots of fun to be had. Over the years, they’ve really built up their reputation. They also have a full bar, lots of sides, and TVs for the big game.
I mean, where else can you just relax and catch a game or have some live music fun when in the Yellowstone area?
Wild West Pizzeria & Saloon is definitely the place!
Vibe
It’s a super chill vibe here at Wild West Pizzeria & Saloon.
It feels like a saloon from the Wild West, but it’s very family-friendly and fun. I like the atmosphere with its wood paneling and fun music.
It’s clean and has good lighting, too. And the people here were great!
Wild West Pizzeria & Saloon: Menu & Drinks
I tried a few things on the menu, and all were quite enjoyable.
I like spice, so the Diablo Wings were a must-try for me. They are hot and have a lot of flavor to them as well. They do have a mild version, too. They were super hot and freshly made.
Then you can build your own pizza or choose one off the menu. There are tons of options, but I tried out the Butch Cassidy, which I am told is a popular local favorite. It’s definitely unique, with bbq sauce, red onions, baked beans, and a load of pulled pork on top. Doesn’t feel like pizza at all.
My family also tried out the Pancho Villa, which has enchilada sauce on it, cheese, taco meat, and then freshly diced tomatoes, lettuce, and everything else that you can imagine for tacos.
Then there are other options such as lasagna (yes, really), chicken parm, spaghetti, and mac and cheese. They have hot sandwiches as well, including a Reuben that the table next to me got. It was piled high!
There’s also a full bar menu for those looking for a drink. They have draft beer, domestic and micro bottled beers, and seasonal beers. I had the Kettlehouse Bongwater Hemp Ale, and it definitely had a punch to it, though it wasn’t my favorite of all time.
Local Tips
- It tends to be busy, but unlike other locations, they do take call-ahead reservations, and you can join the waitlist online as well.
- I recommend purchasing a calzone to take with you for your next meal. They are great for warming up later, and they are big enough for two people to have a filling meal.
- Ask about the wine list. Believe it or not, they have lots to choose from.
- Order your drinks for the whole table by the pitcher, and you’ll save money.
