About
Before launching a day cruising Fort Pierce, get a stick-to-your-ribs meal at the Captain's Galley!
Founded in 1984 by Dennis J. Horvath, Captain's Galley has etched its name in the hearts of locals and visitors.
Dennis' journey into the world of restaurateurs began at 15, working at his family's Perkin Pancake & Steak House in Athens, Ohio. His formal Restaurant and Hotel Management education from Hocking Technical College, Ohio, further solidified his path.
In 1984, Dennis, alongside his sister Deena, embarked on realizing their dream by opening the original Captain's Galley across from the Ft. Pierce Marina.
In 1987, Dennis expanded into a new location, where the restaurant stands today, creating a cozy family atmosphere. That same year, Dennis married Janet, and together they worked tirelessly to grow their business. Their children, Tyler, Taryn, and Trevor, continue to carry on their father's legacy, maintaining the restaurant's friendly and inviting atmosphere.
Dennis Horvath was known for his generosity, often helping the less fortunate, cooking and serving at local food banks, and participating in community events. His legacy extends beyond the restaurant's walls, touching many lives through his acts of kindness and community service.
Today, having won accolades such as the "Best Breakfast" in St. Lucie County, it offers a welcoming atmosphere where guests can enjoy meals with family and friends.

On the outside, Captain's Galley presents a quaint and inviting facade. Its location on the corner of Seaway and Indian River Drive adds to its accessibility and appeal. With its unassuming charm, the exterior beckons locals and travelers alike, promising a meal experience that feels both nostalgic and refreshing.
As you step into Captain's Galley, you're greeted by an ambiance that exudes warmth and intimacy. The walls are adorned with memorabilia and photographs that tell the story of the restaurant's journey and the family behind it, creating a sense of nostalgia and a connection to the local community.
The seating arrangement is versatile, catering to small and large groups, with a mix of booths and tables that allow for private conversations and communal dining. Though not overly extravagant, the decor has a personal touch, with attention to detail that makes the space feel special and unique.
