Savannah Botanical Gardens

Just 15 minutes from the Savannah Historic District is the Savannah Botanical Gardens. The 10 acres feature formal and naturalistic plantings, a two-acre pond, an amphitheater, nature trails, an archaeological exhibit, and the historic Reinhard House.

Initially developed in the 1980s, this cooperative effort by the Savannah Area Council of Garden Clubs and volunteers is an oasis of tranquility.

The gardens combine curated landscapes and unspoiled woodland trails, featuring a rich palette of environments, from ornamental gardens to scenic water features. 

The Reinhard House is another draw, dating back to the 1840s when it was a farmhouse for a German family. It was originally located on Wheaton Street, but the garden club had it relocated to the gardens in 1992 to prevent it from being demolished. 

With its stunning beauty and access to the restored farmhouse, the Savannah Botanical Gardens is popular for weddings and special events. While it's limited in the size of the group it can host, it nonetheless makes for memorable festivities.

The botanical garden's central location makes planning a sightseeing itinerary simple. Aside from the wondrous landmarks in the historic district, the gardens are also near attractions like the Wormsloe State Historic Site and the Pin Point Heritage Museum. • Head north on Bull Street toward West Bay Street. 
• Turn left at the first cross street onto West Oglethorpe Avenue. 
• Merge onto US-17 South via the ramp to Brunswick. 
• Take the exit toward Chatham Parkway and turn left onto Chatham Parkway. 
• Follow and then turn right onto Eisenhower Drive.
