Vic's on the River

One appealing aspect of vacationing in Savannah is the diverse range of dining options. Vic's on the River is one such eatery offering upscale dining in its renovated, historic five-story brick building along River Street. 

Renowned architect John Norris designed the facility in 1859, and it served as a cotton warehouse. During the Civil War, General Sherman's officers commandeered the building. A hand-drawn map of Sherman's march is in the main dining room, connecting diners to this turbulent era. 

Vic's on the River was co-founded by Dr. Irving Victor, a prominent Savannah urologist, and business partner Bill Hall. The restaurant opened in 2006, but initially, Dr. Victor cosigned a loan for a bluegrass-themed restaurant called Billy Bob's. 

Over time, his vision for a refined dining experience evolved into the River Grille and ultimately led to the establishment of Vic's on the River. You'll also find sister restaurants on the same street, like Vic's River Grill and Vic's Coffee Bar. Both offer similar historical settings but with different vibes and menus. 

Serving lunch and dinner, Vic's offers elevated Southern cuisine with contemporary twists. From shrimp and grits to fan favorites like crispy fried green tomatoes and seafood dishes, the options will appeal to a wide range of palates.

Vic's on the River: Menu & Drinks

The lunch and dinner menus are virtually identical. The only difference is that the dinner portions are larger and thus more expensive. 

Kick off your dining adventure with fried green tomatoes. Perfectly crisp and served with tomato chutney and goat cheese, this appetizer offers a quintessential taste of the South. 

A Southern comfort food with a twist is the Shrimp and Grits. This tasty dish features fresh shrimp in stone-ground cheddar grits, applewood smoked bacon, and rosemary barbecue sauce. It is a soul-satisfying meal, whether for lunch or dinner.

Another favorite is the Pecan Fried Flounder. The fish is golden brown and comes with andouille sausage, potato hash, haricot verts, and citrus honey butter.
