About

So, you’re facing a dining dilemma. You want craft beer in a hip setting, but don’t want a menu with bland bar food. The solution to this scenario is visiting Goodland Pour House!

Our story begins with Nathan and Paige Simandle, who opened the first restaurant on November 5, 2019, in Madison, Alabama. They named it after Goleta, “The Goodland,” where they lived before moving south. Aside from serving ice-cold brews, the brothers fused California culinary inspirations with Southern flair.

Goodland Pour House balances chef-driven menus with a laid-back, family-friendly vibe. Here, you can enjoy American classics like Detroit-style pizzas with daily scratch dough and inventive desserts.

The pub’s downtown location makes it easy to combine sightseeing with a brew and a meal. For example, visit Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment and the US Veterans Memorial Museum, followed by lunch or dinner at Goodland. With so much to see and do in Rocket City, the combinations are endless!

When you need a casual dining experience with rotating brews and chef-centric cuisine, visit Goodland Pour House.

Vibe

Goodland Pour House is in The Shops at Merchants Walk and occupies what was once The Brass Tap. Its modern signage and facade blend with the other businesses, but don’t let this uniformity fool you. Inside is a unique, casual hangout with captivating decor.

The interior sports a vaulted, exposed ceiling for an industrial look. Chains holding wooden beams with dangling vintage industrial lights add to this vibe. These primitive light fixtures are eye-appealing and also bathe the dining tables in warm light.

A blue accent wall is covered with album covers and vinyl records, adding a whimsical touch to the room. The remaining walls are refurbished barn wood, while the bar has white tile for a classic look.

The dining area and bar feature industrial-style tables and chairs, adding to the room’s eclectic yet chill ambiance. When the weather suits, a glassed garage door opens to access the patio and let in Alabama breezes.

Strung around the top of the walls like sentinels are large screen TVS, making the room a sports fan’s nirvana.

The relaxed mood makes the eatery ideal for families, vacationers, and those looking to have a good time. Add these to the top-notch food and beer, and it’s easy to see why Goodland is a Rocket City hotspot!

Goodland Pour House: Menu & Drinks

Before we pour a cold one, let’s explore the menus. What makes Goodland unique is that while most sports bars only serve dinner (and pub fare at that), it offers lunch and brunch on the weekend.

After a day releasing butterflies at Purdy Butterfly House, start your dining adventure with any of the mouth-watering starters. Of note is the Shrimp N Grit Hushpuppies, which combines New Orleans-style shrimp with crispy grit fritters. Add Andouille sausage, smoked gouda cheese, green onions, and the house “Secret Sauce,” and you’ll swear you’re near the bayou!

The Detroit-style pizzas, with its thick, crispy crusts and creative toppings, will have you returning for more. A shining example is the Notorious P.I.E. with red sauce, mozzarella, white cheddar cheese, pepperoni, and pickled jalapenos. Burrata cheese is the crowning touch, while the drizzled Mike’s hot honey adds the perfect amount of sweet and heat.

If you need something lighter, consider the Berry Garcia. This salad has arugula, fresh sliced strawberries, dried cherries, goat cheese, red quinoa, GPG pecan and pumpkin seed granola. A house-made balsamic vinaigrette unites the textures and flavors.

After a day of golf at RTJ Golf Trail Hampton Cove, cool off with local and regional brews. The taps rotate regularly, so there’s always a new beer to sample whenever you visit. You’ll also discover creative cocktails and plenty of non-alcoholic options.

With so many delicious and inventive menu items, an extensive beer lineup, and its hip and family-friendly vibe, adding Goodland Pour House to any Alabama getaway is a must. Whether stopping for lunch or a leisurely evening, this forward-thinking pub has something for every palate and budget.
