Greensboro is on Lake Oconee, but what many people first notice about the area is its historic buildings and beautiful parks, especially in the downtown area. There are numerous shops here, including those with jewelry and gifts. It’s not uncommon for people to visit to do some antiquing either.
Still, for many, the main reason to visit is to enjoy the lake itself. The lake is a reservoir that sits on the Oconee River and was built in 1979 after the construction of the Wallace Dam. It’s close to both Greensboro and Eatonton.
Greensboro is home to a more relaxed way of living, and though there is a significant amount of tourism here, it’s still easy enough to enjoy a relaxed experience no matter when you visit.
