Carl and Denise Mitchell, with their daughter Shannon Perez, remodeled the cafe and relaunched it in 2019. Since then, it has been a top draw for those seeking coffee, cappuccinos, specialty brews, smoothies, and simple breakfast and lunch items.

The family applied their experience running a cupcake shop to create a place that attracts guests like bees to honey. Their motto, "No better way to start your day!" is more than a pithy saying; it is their DNA. It permeates every nook and cranny of the industrial chic decor, the homemade goodies, and satisfying beverages.

With the addition of free WiFi, The Mud Room attracts students and professionals who sip their morning java while working on laptops. Vacationers also find it appealing, making it a breeze to grab breakfast sandwiches and hot drinks before exploring Kirkham Hot Springs.

Speaking of food, the family draws upon their cupcake days to create tasty homemade items. The apple pie tart is popular, while the BBQ sauces and breads are equally impressive.

Entering The Mud Room, you'll understand that "small business" is taken literally here! While the space is limited, it adds to the warm and friendly atmosphere. Baristas behind the bar greet you as if you were a regular, even if it's your first time. And if you love coffee, chances are it won't be your last visit.

The handful of small tables are perfect for work or mingling. When the weather suits, most will filter to the outdoor seating to enjoy the beautiful views surrounding the quaint, rustic shop.

But there's more here than meets the eye. The staff's sense of care, warmth, and exuberance radiates everywhere. This stems from Denise's philosophy that "you never know what someone is going through." She instills this philosophy into everything her crew does, and it shows. Here, you are served hot coffee from authentic, encouraging, and welcoming souls.

The Mud Room: Menu & Drinks

The extensive drink menu has something for everyone. Classics include Americanos, lattes, cappuccinos, and hot chocolate. Craft macchiatos, house coffee, and mochas are also available.

Seasonal drink favorites are another hit at the cafe. You can expect pumpkin spice in the fall while peppermint-inspired drinks abound near Christmas. 

They offer unique smoothies and other beverages if you're not a coffee person. These will satisfy your thirst after a hot day of disc golf at Eagle Island State Park.

As mentioned, they offer plenty of made-from-scratch breakfast choices.  Freshly baked treats like blueberry and butterscotch muffins, oatmeal, and gluten-free brownies are available. When you need something heartier for a day rafting with Idaho Whitewater Unlimited, try the bagel sandwiches or the breakfast burrito.
