The Lebanese restaurant opened in 2005 and has carved a niche in the Santa Barbara dining scene. From its inception, Zaytoon has been dedicated to providing guests with a dining experience reflecting Mediterranean culture's warmth and hospitality. 

The secret to the restaurant's success is sourcing local ingredients from farmers, fishermen, and the local farmers' market. Zaytoon uses free-range, antibiotic, and hormone-free Jidori chicken. Similarly, the restaurant specializes in wild-caught salmon, and Halal lamb from Australia. Their fresh pita bread is homemade, while dressings and marinades do not include any added sugar.  

Dining in the garden area at Zaytoon's is a charming experience. The patio lights, quaint tables, and live Lebanese music make for a memorable dinner outing. And with its central location, it's easy to combine multiple attractions, like taking in a show at The Arlington Theater, with a meal at Zaytoon.

The atmosphere at Zaytoon is magical, which is why it's popular for romantic evenings and intimate meals. As mentioned, the prime dining area is in a small garden, where potted plants and trellises rich with green vines are the backdrop. 

Strings of garden lights serve as the ceiling under the stars and night sky, while similar lights adorn the trellises. A large water fountain takes center stage, and the sounds of ever-flowing water add to the relaxing atmosphere. 

Round tables dot the patio, and in the center burns a small gas flame that adds to the enchanting vibe. Dining around the small fire is akin to having your firepit, perfect for romantic dinners or with your family.

Zaytoon: Menu & Drinks

Because all meals at Zaytoon are made fresh daily using only the finest ingredients, you know you're in for a delicious meal. 

Items on the Mezza, similar to Spanish tapas, are perfect as appetizers or shareables. The Pistachio Spread is a standout, with yogurt, pistachio, mint, homemade thyme spice, pomegranate, and olive oil. The Batata Harra is another hit, featuring spicy potatoes sautéed with a generous portion of fresh garlic, lemon, olive oil, and cilantro. 

Check out the items in the salad and soup section for lighter fare. The Watermelon Salad is refreshing and a thing of beauty to behold. These showcase baby arugula, watermelon, pine nuts, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic reduction, and French Feta.

The entrees are hearty meals, perfect after exploring the artifacts and gardens at Old Mission Santa Barbara, and come with rice pilaf and fattoush salad. A popular pick is the Mixed Shawarma, which has strips of marinated lamb and tri-tip that are slowly broiled on a vertically rotating grill. The meat is juicy and tender and is a quintessential Mediterranean meal. Another go-to is the Salmon with Basil Cream, which showcases wild-caught salmon grilled and topped with onion, parsley, and basil cream sauce.

Regarding drinks, the full bar offers classic cocktails, wine, and beer options. Non-alcoholic options range from soft drinks to tea and coffee.
