Meet the Owner: Michael Reinman
Redwood Coast franchise owner, Michael Reinman, began his career in the world of international business and finance in New York. Later, transitioning to teach math and economics at a local high school. His entry into the vacation rental industry began about 20 years ago when he and his wife, Hope, converted the garage of their beach property in Trinidad into a profitable Vrbo rental. Going on to assist neighbors and friends to do the same, …. the rest is history!
Casago: Michael, can you tell us a little bit about yourself, your family and your community?
Michael: I met my wife of 27 years, Hope, in the Peace Corps in Guatemala 29 years ago! Our daughter Noa is 22, our son Solomon is 24, and my siblings and folks are back on the East Coast, so we do not see them enough. I have a great group of friends whom I often do sports with including surfing, hiking, mountain biking, disc golf and backpacking.
We live in the wonderful California college town of Arcata. I have been fortunate to serve as President of the Chamber of Commerce in Trinidad and on the Arcata Planning Commission. Our family and business support and are involved in local community organizations including our local rabbi & his young family.
What attracted you to the vacation rental industry?
Michael: Every day is different because you are dealing with people, and it’s fun working with folks that are on vacation – it’s generally a good atmosphere as opposed to working in a prison, say…or a dentist office.
Tell us a little about the history of your Redwood Coast vacation rental business before becoming a Casago franchise.
Michael: With my business before, my team and I had to do everything & be experts in everything, and I mean everything. We used Escapia as our VRMS which is good but did not integrate with Airbnb and trying to find good integrators is not easy. I worked at least 60 hours a week, only taking off one day a week, and often felt I wasn’t building the business as good as it could have been. We grew quickly and were profitable, but it was a lot of work for all of us.
How did you learn about the Casago Franchise opportunity?
Michael: Casago brought me in to buy a business for sale in Hawaii and we decided to make that a Casago Franchise, which has been working great. Joining the Casago team for the new start up in the California Redwood Coast made sense.

Michael: “Things happen for us, not to us. Although we may not be able to always see that, it is the truth. And, we must trust and count our blessings. Relationships are the most important thing in life…”
