In the summer months, you'll want to pack shorts, short-sleeve or tank tops, and bathing suits. Women will also want to bring a few lightweight dresses. It's also a good idea to bring a lightweight sweater or top for the evenings or for over-air-conditioned buildings.

During the winter months, you may want to add a few long pants and long-sleeve shirts, as well as a jacket for the evenings. Deserts lose heat at night, and so Palm Springs can get surprisingly cool after dark.

How much do Palm Springs vacation rentals cost?

A number of factors can influence the cost of a vacation rental property in Palm Springs, including location, amenities, and whether you'll be visiting during the high, low, or shoulder season. Vacation rentals in Palm Springs also range in size from luxury condos to sprawling vacation villas that can comfortably fit several families.

Our favorite money-saving travel hack: many families will plan their travel together so they can pitch in on a single luxury home. When going this route, many families have been able to experience larger luxury properties with more included amenities, all while the total bill often ends up costing less per person than it would on a single-family vacation, it's a win-win.

A two-bedroom condo during the off-season, for example, may cost $175 a night. But that same condo during the high season could be $300-plus. Prices can really escalate -- sometimes doubling -- during special events, such as Coachella.

Another example -- a five-bedroom villa with a private pool will typically start at about $500 a night during the low season and might be $1,000 or more a night during peak rental times.
