About

Looking for a vibrant celebration of community, culture, and creativity? Then look no further than Villagefest!

Every Thursday evening, Palm Canyon Drive transforms from a bustling roadway into a pedestrian paradise, where the air buzzes with energy and excitement.

This transformation began in 1991 and was initially conceived to bring more life and vibrancy to downtown Palm Springs. Over the years, it has evolved into a significant event, symbolizing the spirit of the community.

The geographical span of Villagefest extends from Indian Canyon Drive in the east to Belardo Road in the west, offering a substantial area for exploration. The event is managed by a dedicated Villagefest Board appointed by the Palm Springs City Council, consisting of residents with expertise in retail or tourism.

Villagefest timings vary with the seasons. From October through May, the event runs from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, offering ample time for visitors to experience the lively atmosphere as the sun sets. During the warmer months, from June through September, the event starts an hour later, at 7:00 pm, and continues until 10:00 pm.

Fun Facts & Cool Features

Villagefest began in 1991 to attract more people to the downtown area of Palm Springs. Since its inception, the event has flourished, now featuring over 200 vendors and spanning three blocks of Palm Canyon Drive. This weekly affair, except on holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, has become a staple in the local calendar.

Villagefest is also a haven for food enthusiasts. The fair presents an array of local favorites, such as homemade pizza from Livreri's, tri-tip sandwiches from CV BBQ, and delightful bread and brownies from Aspen Mills Bakery.

Many stores along Palm Canyon Drive extend their business hours on Villagefest nights, with some displaying a "BOLT" (Businesses Open Late Thursday) sign. Various bars and restaurants offer special deals on Thursday nights, and even the Palm Springs Art Museum joins in by offering free admission, contributing to a vibrant and festive environment.

Because Villagefest is in a pedestrian-only zone, it's a safe and leisurely experience.

So, put on your walking shoes, grab your family and friends on your Palm Springs vacation, and enjoy the fun at Villagefest!
