About

An immersive experience awaits where you can walk among the WarBirds used to protect and serve our country.

It's a world where history takes flight, literally, and such an experience awaits at the Palm Springs Air Museum.

This renowned institution is a captivating journey through aviation history. With a reputation that extends well beyond the United States, it has been recognized by CNN as one of the top 14 Air Museums globally.

The Palm Springs Air Museum was established in 1996 to preserve and commemorate the role of World War II aviation. The museum is home to one of the world's largest collections of flyable WWII airplanes.

Exhibits extend beyond this era, offering a peek into more contemporary chapters of aviation history, such as the F-117 Nighthawk.

Encompassing 86,000 square feet of indoor hangar space, the museum provides ample room for its vast collection of legendary fighters, bombers, and trainers.

Many historical aircraft are meticulously restored to their original state and are often seen roaring through the Californian skies.

While the aircraft are undoubtedly the stars of the show, the museum also shines a light on the human element of war.

Through countless educational displays and programs, visitors gain insights into the experiences of the brave men and women who flew combat missions during World War II and the Korean conflict.

Fun Facts & Cool Features

The museum was opened in 1996 by three men with strong connections to vintage aircraft from the minds of four individuals: Charlie Mayer, Bill Byrne, Pete Madison, and Dr. Mort Gubin.

One of the most striking features of the Palm Springs Air Museum is its extensive collection of static and flyable aircraft from World War II.

These pristinely restored WarBirds provide up-close looks at legendary fighters and bombers. This vast array of aircraft is housed in four hangars, providing a unique perspective on the rich history of aviation.

The museum is constantly evolving, always bringing something new for its visitors. And with various indoor activities, visiting can be fun for the whole family.

For the ultimate experience, book a flight on one of these magnificent flying machines! From a leisurely cruise aboard the C-47 transport to the adrenaline-pumping thrill of soaring in a P-51 Mustang, Palm Springs Air Museum has an adventure suited for you.

The Palm Springs Air Museum is more than a museum; it's a hands-on history lesson in aviation history.
