About

Show Low City Park is a breathtaking oasis nestled in the heart of Rim Lakes that captivates the hearts of all who visit.

Like the town, the park is named after the infamous poker game between Corydon E. Cooley and Marion Clark. Clark is reported saying, "Show low, and you take the whole pot." Cooley responded by showing his deuce of clubs (the lowest possible card) and saying, "Show low it is."

Since then, the city park has become a popular destination, successfully balancing preservation and modernization.

Adorned with many indigenous trees and flowers, Show Low City Park is a verdant retreat. The park intertwines the past with the present, featuring historic structures and contemporary recreational facilities. It is a hub of activities, with a skate park, tennis courts, picnic spots, playgrounds, and even a disc golf course.

The park's charming walking trail, known for its beautiful vista of pristine nature, offers a refreshing experience for those craving outdoor adventure. Furthermore, the park's music events and festivals annually add a vibrant cultural dimension to this natural wonderland.

Fun Facts & Cool Features

One fun fact is that Show Low City Park is home to the only public observatory in the White Mountain area. It houses a 16-inch Meade LX-200 telescope, allowing visitors to gaze at the starlit sky.

The park also hosts the annual Fall Festival and Show Low Days, attracting large crowds for pumpkin contests and the famous Derby Down the Deuce soapbox race.

The park is popular for outdoor activities, family picnics, and social activities. Kids will love to play in the splashpad during the summer, while the playground offers hours of fun swinging, climbing, and sliding.

Show Low City Park also features lighted baseball, little league, and softball fields. There are also tennis, basketball, and racquetball courts. The sand volleyball area and horseshoe pits ensure something is here for everyone.

There is also a dog park and a 1.1-mile walking trail for those who want to exercise amidst nature. With picnic tables, pavilions, and restrooms, it's easy to see why Show Low City Park is a popular destination.

Whether you're seeking tranquility amidst nature, a place for active pursuit, or a venue to immerse in local culture and history, Show Low City Park is the perfect destination for a Rim Lakes getaway.
