About

Set on the soft sand in the popular Playa Los Muertos, sits La Palapa Restaurant. As the first beach restaurant to be established in Puerto Vallarta, La Palapa has become an iconic must-visit. It's one of the most sought-after restaurants to dine at because the views are unbeatable. In addition, the gourmet food is fresh, tasty, and beautifully crafted!

History

La Palapa is a family-owned business, with everyone having a part in it whether big or small. Started by Rodelinda and Guy Dickey back in 1957, it was just a dream but in December 1958, it became a reality as they opened their doors! In 1987, they redesigned and built the restaurant. Their goal back then has lasted the test of time as it remains their goal today: Treat visitors to a slice of their tropical paradise.

Environment

La Palapa sells itself as a true tropical escape. They offer tropical cuisine and an elegant environment, fit to host your most romantic, intimate, and/or celebratory meals. When you dine here, you are literally a few yards from the ocean and no seat is a bad one. The ambiance is upscale and the service is impeccable. This is one of the most highly recommended restaurants for couples! If you're celebrating something special, we highly recommend letting them know in the comments on your reservation. They will ensure your time with them is an unforgettable experience!

Menu

The gourmet cuisine served at La Palapa mixes inspiration by local ingredients, Asian and French influences, and a tropical touch. Their food is some of the most beautiful you will ever enjoy. Each dish is crafted to perfection with a colorful palette. You can feel the passion for their craft in every plate that comes to the table. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner so you can enjoy a meal here at almost any time of the day. So, what should you order?

Breakfast

Oatmeal, Eggs Benedict, Buttermilk Pancakes, Chilaquiles, and more. The breakfast menu at La Palapa covers all bases. Some of the most popular options include Almond Crusted French Toast, Breakfast Quesadillas, and Huevos Vallarta. If you're looking for light fare or a healthy option, they conveniently have a Light Fare category. In addition, they mark items on the menu with a green apple to signify a healthier choice to start your day.

Lunch

Mid-day is a wonderful time to sit by the beach and enjoy a refreshing drink from the bar. The lunch-time menu has plenty to choose from including tacos, sandwiches, enchiladas, and chef specialties. This menu has an awesome selection of proteins to choose from including chicken, octopus, salmon, lobster, and more! You will surely get your fix for whatever your tastebuds have been dreaming of!

Dinner

At night is when the magic of La Palapa truly comes alive. There are string lights everywhere and candles on the table that offer a very intimate, romantic, beachfront experience. Our perfect meal here would consist of Tuna Tataki as a starter and Beef Medallions as the main course. If it's a chilly night, the Tortilla Soup or Lobster & Shrimp Taquitos would be the perfect way to warm your tummy. Other incredible dinner entrees include the Seared Salmon, Lobster Tail, and Pork Roulade.

Dessert

End your experience on a sweet note with one of their signature desserts. If we had to choose one, we'd go for their Crème Brûlée. It comes with almond crumble, chocolate ganache, and cinnamon ice cream. Dessert doesn't get much better than that. You'll definitely want to order another when this is gone. Their other dessert options include lava cake, churros, and mascarpone cheese flan. All of which are incredible in their own right, but in our opinion their Crème Brûlée is the most drool-worthy!

We recommend making a reservation online to avoid any possible wait times at this popular restaurant. Whether you're needing fuel for a long day of hiking at the botanical gardens, or need a yummy breakfast before relaxing at the beach, or something in-between, La Palapa has something for everyone.
