Upon arriving at the meeting point, you'll be greeted by Balloons Above crew. After a short introduction, they'll help you into the Hot Air Balloon Basket. The great thing about the Balloons Above balloons is that they have a door that actually opens for you to enter/exit. Unlike other hot air balloon companies where you must jump in and out, which can be a little uncomfortable or difficult. Having doors that actually open and close for you also means that they are one of the companies that are disability-friendly.

How do Hot Air Balloons work?

The basic scientific principle that explains how hot air balloons work is this: hot air rises. This is because hot air is lighter than cool air. So, by heating up the air in the oversized balloon at the top of the carriage, the balloon will naturally begin to lift into the air. That's also why there is a weight/occupancy maximum on these flights. If the basket is too heavy, the balloon will not rise as it should.

Once everyone is inside and ready to start the flight, they will turn on the flames. The air at the top inside the balloon will heat, and off you go!

Park City Balloon Ride Pricing & Info

This activity is great for all ages, but they do recommend that those under the age of 5 don't fly. While this is not a restriction, it's just a suggestion because in the past, children under 5 have become frightened by the height or by the sound the balloon makes. Pricing depends on the amount of people in your group and availability. We recommend giving them a call to get the most accurate pricing.

Balloons Above operates in four different cities across Utah:

• Park City
• Midway
• Heber City

Outside of Utah, they also operate in Palm Springs in California - over Coachella Valley.

The flight lasts a total of 1 hour at minimum. Sometimes the pilots will fly for longer and there is no charge for this. However, it is dependent on the pilot's decision and the weather at the time. This activity is weather-permitting. The wind's strength and direction plays a large part in the way that the hot air balloon will fly. So, if your scheduled flight is no longer possible, they will reach out to you to reschedule for a better day.

At the end of your flight, they will have light snacks and champagne or wine to celebrate the occasion!
