Jacksonville Beach Golf Club

Jacksonville Beach Golf Club, listed as one of the top 30 courses in Florida, opened in 1959 as a private 9-hole course designed by Sam Snead. 

When the City of Jacksonville Beach purchased the course years later, it hired Robert Walker to redesign it to be 18 holes. The City also changed it from a private club to a public course. These updates helped the golf course become one of the top Jacksonville Beach attractions.

A major renovation occurred in 2018 that revitalized the course and its reputation. With the help of renowned course architect Harrison Minchew, lush fairways of 419 Bermuda grass and greens planted with salt-resistant Platinum Paspalum turf were added. Another focus was sustainability, so drainage and irrigation systems use 100% reclaimed water.  

Other alterations include reshaped and reconfigured holes for better playability, more par-4 holes, and fewer water hazards. In addition, the reconfigured 16th, 17th, and 18th greens offer challenging finishes that golfers will appreciate.

The 2018 renovation also included remodeling the Pro Shop and adding a restaurant, Sneakers on the Green. Lastly, the City changed the name to Jax Beach Golf Club.

The 18-hole course measures 6,510 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71.9, with a slope rating of 126.
