About
When in Galveston, a trip to Gaido's seafood restaurant is in order. This restaurant is one of the city's oldest, opening in 1911. Since its opening, Gaido's has remained family-owned. They've also maintained their reputation for only providing the best, from food to service. After decades in the business, they offer time-tested family recipes that are sure to impress.
The restaurant's environment is upscale, so we recommend business casual attire. Of course, this is not a requirement. However, once you scroll through the photos of the interior of the restaurant, you'll want to dress up here even if just for some fun pictures!
There is no outdoor seating here, only a spacious, chic dining room. There is a sitting area with comfortable retro chairs and a private dining room on the other end of the restaurant.
Fun fact about Gaido's: This establishment boasts the 2nd-largest kitchen in Texas. Their kitchen can support up to 8 different dining rooms. Another fun fact? They are one of the only restaurants that still bring hot water in a bowl at the end of your meal. To dip your fingers in after a fishy meal, of course. How cool is that?
Vibe
Although it is an upscale dining establishment, the massive, anatomically accurate blue crab atop its roof adds a playful touch. It also sets the tone for a refined yet non-pretentious dining experience.
Step through the doors, and the maritime-inspired decor will envelope you. Such memorabilia adds a touch of class to the restaurant, featuring ivory-handled ship tools and stunning cut-glass displays. In addition to providing a timeless ambiance, they pay homage to its century-old legacy.
The atmosphere at Gaido's is warm and inviting, balancing old-school charm with a lively, family-friendly vibe. The attentive staff further enhances your epicurean adventure with thoughtful touches, such as warm bread and finger bowls. The restaurant's blend of history, hospitality, and coastal flair makes it a cherished destination on any Texas vacation.
Gaido's: Menu & Drinks
The Crab-Stuffed Shrimp is a shareable guaranteed to be a hit. The dish includes five jumbo Gulf shrimp stuffed with their signature crab cake. Then it's baked to perfection and topped with a complementary lemon-butter garlic sauce.
If you like oysters, you're in for a real treat here! Have it your way: raw, deviled, charcoal-grilled, baked, or fried. The options are endless. You can order a half dozen or a full dozen. Additionally, there are platter options for a larger group. No matter how you like your oysters, Gaido's will be able to satisfy.
For something a little less adventurous, but still delicious, try the Pecan-Encrusted Mahi Mahi. This extra-lean, firm white-meat fish filet is coated in house-made pecan breading and pan-sautéed to crisp perfection. Do yourself the favor and order the sliced tomatoes as your side. The tomato slices come warm with melted cheese and herbs. While simple in ingredients, the flavors and textures are out of this world!
Gaido's is known for its delectable desserts! It's worth a trip to try the decadent Chocolate Brownie Deluxe Cake or the perfectly tart Key Lime Cheesecake.
