About

BoomTown Woodfire Bar & Grill is the place to go for good comfort food and a nice cold one.

This is the modern grill and bar that you have been looking for. It is a bit more upscale than most of the saloons in the area, and that brings with it some of the best food around.

I was able to visit for dinner a few days ago and was super impressed with the experience.

They have a wide range of food options and lots of beer options, including craft versions that were fantastic. The craft beers come from the company’s own brewhouse in Hibbing. I also saw they have a wine list with some great Italian and Russian choices, not just your standard fare.

When visiting, I was certainly impressed with the food, but the people were really great, too.

I sat at the bar and was able to have a great conversation with the person working there. They were professional and courteous but were easy to chat with throughout my stay. I was impressed with her overall knowledge of the beers and the food options—she could even tell me the seasoning on some of the items when I asked due to an allergy.

So if you’re looking for an upscale but laid-back place to eat, Boomtown Woodfire Bar & Grill is the place for you!

Vibe

I sat at the bar for my most recent visit, and it was well-lit and lively.

There are TVs present to watch whatever sports are going on and the news. The area isn’t too loud in terms of music, and it’s easy enough to carry on a conversation.

It wasn’t too crowded either, and there was plenty of room to spread out at the bar, which was nice.

I’d say the vibe here is upbeat, welcoming, and casual.

BoomTown Woodfire Bar & Grill: Menu & Drinks

When I visited, I really took a closer look at the menu so I could try something different than the normal options I have selected in the past.

For an appetizer, I decided to go with the Dynamite Shrimp. I like spice, and this was a good option for me. It has a spicy Asian glaze on it that was nice and tart. The lemon also helped to bring out that flavor.

I then set out for dinner and decided on the Chimi Lamb Lollipops. Wow! They are topped with an Argentinian chimichurri that is bursting with flavor and has a bit of heat to it as well. The lamb was tender and easy to gobble down (I was hungry, but they were also really good!) You also get vegetables and mashed baby red potatoes. They were not mushy but just fork-tender.

There was no way I was going to be able to get dessert, but I had to take something home with me. I decided on the White Chocolate Raspberry Torte, and it was the perfect bedtime snack!

As noted, they have a full menu of drink options available. I decided on the Boomtown Brew first, which is made by the company’s brewery. And since they had a ton of beer options, including the Smokin’ Scotch, Peanut Butter Porter, and the Tangled Up in Blueberry, I decided on the Strawberry Blonde for my second go. It’s an American blonde ale beer and was fully enjoyable, with a nice strawberry puree in it that added the right touch.

Local Tips

  • Make the reservations if you plan to come on the weekend because it can get busy fast.
  • I decided to check them out on Facebook while I was waiting for my food and saw a wide range of specials and events taking place, so be sure to follow them to find out what’s going on.
  • They cater. I have had their catering previously at a work event and was really impressed with the quality.
  • This is a family-friendly location, but I have to say it gets loud in the evenings, as any bar would be.
