About

When you think of a rebel, you picture someone going against the norm or cutting a different path. This description matches the vision Stefanie Bridges had when developing Rebel Roots Kitchen.

Stefanie wanted to “rebel” from the standard cuisine found in Whitefish and instead create healthy gluten and dairy-free meals.

Inspired by her passion for Asian-Hawaiian food, Stefanie brought a piece of the South Pacific to Whitefish, Montana. More impressive is her drive. She never attended culinary school, and her only mentor was her mother. Undaunted, Stefanie launched Rebel Roots Kitchen in 2018 in the Palace Bar.

Today, Rebel Roots Kitchen operates as a food truck and can be found at 800 Spokane Avenue in Whitefish. Here, you’ll find plenty of parking along with her vibrant and healthy menu.

Born out of her passion for serving vibrant, fresh dishes, Stefanie has created a unique restaurant that has started to take root in Montana. She sums it up best herself. “You are what you eat, and I think people should be aware of what they put in their body.”

Rebel Roots Kitchen uses environmentally friendly containers and biodegradable cutlery. The only imprint she wants to leave in Montana is satisfied customers who love her Hawaiian fusion food.

If you’re vacationing in Whitefish, swing by Rebel Roots Kitchen for meals that follow the trail less traveled.

Vibe

When Rebel Roots Kitchen opened in the Palace Bar, Stefanie wasn’t sure if the Montana bar crowd would like her unique cuisine. She was pleasantly surprised when her culinary vision became an overnight hit.

Reflecting on those early years, Stefanie said she had “...these old Montana dudes eating tofu tacos.” Meat lovers, don’t worry! Stefanie serves beef but uses only locally sourced meat.

Stefanie has rebelled again to forge a new path, moving out of the Palace Bar and into a food truck. Permanently parked on Spokane Avenue, the gray and silver trailer has two serving windows and vibrant blackboard menus displaying the day’s specials.

There’s plenty of parking, and the casualness of her locale is inviting to vacationers and locals alike.

Rebel Roots Kitchen: Menu & Drinks

While her new food truck is enchanting, the real hero at Rebel Roots Kitchen is the menu.

To be honest, there isn’t a bad item on the menu! But for the sake of helping Whitefish vacationers discover the best, let’s take a deep dive into some top sellers.

The Hawaiian Kalua Pork Tacos take your taste buds on a voyage to the Islands! Plates come with three tacos (gluten-free, of course!) stuffed with Hawaiian pulled pork, purple cabbage, smokey Sriracha sauce, Mango salsa, green onions, and lime.

They say you first eat with your eyes. This applies to the Palace Bowl, a tropical rainbow of colors! The bowl starts with coconut riced cauliflower and is topped with lemon and avocado oil kale salad, fresh raspberries and bell peppers, purple cabbage, bean sprouts, and avocados. All of which is topped with toasted sunflower seeds and a light and sweet Asian Vinaigrette.

But wait, there’s more! Diners decide between adding crispy tofu with peanut sauce, pulled pork with sriracha sauce, or extra avocado with all the sauces!

Honorable mentions include the Green Power Salad, Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos, and Crispy Tofu Bowl. And did we mention that there are healthy add-ons to create your custom cuisine?

All this to say that when you’re on a Montana getaway in Whitefish, you owe it to yourself to have a meal (or three) at Rebel Roots Kitchen.

With its laid-back vibe, commitment to using locally sourced ingredients, and passion for Hawaiian fusion cuisine, Rebel Roots Kitchen will have you returning for more.
