About

It's been said that a journey of 1,000 miles begins with one step. This can be said of the Duluth Grill.

The beloved eatery in Northern Minnesota has roots that go back to 1971 when it started as a 24-hour cafeteria called the Highway Host.

Tom Hanson and his family purchased the now-defunct restaurant, The Duluth Grill Embers, in 2001.

After a season of trial and error, Tom and his team distanced themselves from The Duluth Grill Embers chain and, in 2008, rebranded the eatery as Duluth Grill.

One of the most significant turning points is they broke away from the previous menu and created something unique. Duluth Grill prides itself on its farm-to-table approach and serving made-from-scratch wholesome food.

Tom and his wife, Jaima, have expanded their culinary reach by purchasing vacant lots and opening new restaurants, such as the Burger Paradox.

During its 1,000-mile trek, Duluth Grill has remained committed to providing high-quality food and service to its patrons, one step at a time.

Vibe

Entering the Duluth Grill is like stepping into a warm, welcoming home of a dear friend. The atmosphere radiates a sense of community and camaraderie, where everyone from families to solo diners can find a comfortable spot to enjoy their meal.

The restaurant's décor is charming and rustic, reflecting its Northern Minnesota roots.

One distinctive feature of Duluth Grill is its commitment to a farm-to-table ethos. This philosophy is evident in everything from the fresh, locally sourced ingredients that make up their dishes to the friendly, knowledgeable staff ready to recommend a dish or explain its ingredients.
