When it comes time to have some fun in the sun many people choose a Santa Barbara spring break. With so many things to do and see, and in such a beautiful location, it is the ideal getaway for many. The best vacation rentals can usually be found in Santa Barbara.

Santa Barbara Museum of Art

Activities to indulge in include a visit to the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. Since 1941 it has been the home of many classic pieces. Its collection consists of more than 27,000 pieces from Europe, America and Asia. The museum also boasts a store, auditorium, cafe and even a library. Performances are often held at the museum, which also offers seminars and lectures. Those visiting the museum can participate in tours as well.

Lotusland

When it’s time to stop and smell the roses (along with plenty of other flowers) another activity worth indulging in is Lotusland. It is a bit of a source of local pride as it is the former home of Madame Ganna Walska. Spread out over 37 acres, visitors can see plant collections that the Madame herself proudly culled. Stepping into Lotusland means getting a view of not only her own plant collections, but many donated by her admirers and friends as well. This attraction is now a non-profit botanical garden open to the public.

Santa Barbara Zoo

No visit to the area is complete without a trip to the Santa Barbara Zoo. Over 500 animals call this 30-acre zoo their home. In addition to the animal residents the zoo is also full of cacti, native plants, trees and other breathtaking sights. It has been providing the community with educational activities and opportunities since its opening in 1963, making it an important part of life in Santa Barbara.

Shoreline Park

Shoreline Park is also a sight to be seen during spring break. The park affords its visitors views of the city’s coastline as well as the Santa Ynez Mountains. Within the park itself is picnic tables and barbecues that can make for the perfect spring break getaway. Simply entering the park brings visitors face to face with the Torri Gate. From this vantage point it is easy to see the Arroyo Burro Estuary.

Stearns Wharf

Stearns Wharf rounds out the list of activities that fit in nicely with spring break. There are no older wooden wharfs anywhere in the state that are still used. This one is home to various local businesses as well as the Channel Islands Exhibit Hall. For some fun on the water, it is possible to catch a cruise or a water taxi from here.
