About

It started with a kiss and ended with a restaurant called Spoon. But let's pause our tale and set the table (sorry, bad pun) on how this dynamic restaurant came about.

Chef Zhee Zhee and JC met over 20 years ago, working in a fine dining restaurant in San Diego. Mutual affection sparked, and while gathering food from the walk-in refrigerator, they kissed.

The couple would marry and began dreaming of opening their own restaurant. Fast forward to 2017, when the current owner of Spoon was selling the established and well-loved eatery.

Zhee Zhee and JC jumped at the opportunity. While sticking to the original menu's selection, they put their own spin on the food. f

Their focus was creating yummy, eclectic comfort food using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Every dish would be homemade, use seasonal touches, and appeal to various eaters.

In their own words, Spoon offers "gourmet comfort cuisine" that will satisfy sophisticated palettes to the meat-and-tater types. It's a quaint place to hang out, gather with friends and family, and savor hearty meals cooked to perfection.

Vibe

When you first see Spoon, you're probably wondering how a quaint cottage can serve meals big on flavor. But don't be fooled by its looks; inside is a taste journey beyond comparison.

The modern cottage with a tin roof is tiny, but the limited space inside is used to its fullest. Wood walls and ceiling are painted in bright earth tones that make the interior feel more spacious than it is.

Seating is limited, but a loft gives diners a bird's eye view of the restaurant. And like an upscale sailing ship, every nook and cranny is utilized, whether for a dining area or to showcase daily specials.

Uniquely, the interior doesn't feel cramped but instead cozy and homelike.

And like the cottage that it is, the ambiance at Spoon exudes a regal yet casual feel, making it ideal for intimate dinners, business lunches, or casual catch-ups with friends.

Best of all, dining at Spoon makes you feel like you've discovered a hidden gem in the North Lake Tahoe region.

Spoon Restaurant: Menu & Drinks

While finding Spoon in North Lake Tahoe can be challenging, comprehending their menu is a breeze! And when you eyeball their dinner options, you'll be amazed that such a massive meal could be cooked in a quaint cottage.

One dinner of note is the Organic Chicken Breast. Chefs perfectly cook a herb-marinated skin-on piece of chicken with fingerling potatoes. On the side is a roasted pepper sauce & haricot vert.

Another crowd-pleaser is the Linguini and handmade Beef Meatballs. This gluten-free meal features chunky roasted garlic tomatoes, parmesan & a drizzle of scallion parsley pesto.

Be sure to save room for dessert! While there are too many treat temptations to list, here is a winner: Million Dolla' Slice. This decadent dessert showcases layered, buttery shortbread, salty caramel, dark chocolate ganache & toasted almonds. And the best part? It doesn't cost a million bucks!

Beverages include organic coffee, assorted teas, and sparkling drinks like LaCroix and San Pellegrino Soda.
