About

Whether you're a surf pro, novice, or not the least bit interested in surfing, Tamarack Surf Beach offers something for everyone.

California is known for its vibrant surf culture, and a day at Tamarack Surf Beach offers an immersive experience and plenty of outdoor activities.

Tamarack Surf Beach is one of the most popular surfing destinations and has played host to numerous famous surfers.

The beach is also known as Carlsbad State Beach and offers a rich blend of recreational activities catering to beachgoers.

Adventures include swimming, scuba diving, kayaking, windsurfing, fishing, and beachcombing.

Perhaps the biggest draw to this natural wonder is that the beach is wide, flat, and miles long. Toss in the soft sand and never-ending waves, and it's easy to see why it's a surfer's paradise.

On a good day, surfers can catch the waves 25 yards outside the jetty and ride them to the shoreline.

Tamarack Surf Beach is ranked 97th out of 385 beaches in the California region, further emphasizing its appeal among beachgoers.

Tamarack Surf Beach's popularity extends beyond its physical attributes. Its location in Carlsbad adds charm, with coastal bluffs providing a picturesque backdrop to this scenic beach.

Fun Facts & Cool Features

Tamarack Surf Beach is a destination that offers more than just a place to soak up the sun. With its vast and immaculate shoreline, it's one of San Diego's most popular destinations.

Did you know that in the late 1950s, Tamarack Beach looked like a scene from a Frank Sinatra film? The beach was home to Novak's joint and, in the 1970s, the Offshore Surf Shop. Such charm still remains at Tamarack Surf Beach.

One standout feature of Tamarack Surf Beach is its fantastic surfing conditions. Whether you're an expert or a beginner, the beach break with sloping mellow waves makes it an excellent spot for all levels.

The beach is ideal for swimming, scuba diving, kayaking, windsurfing, and fishing. If you prefer to stay on land, you can go beachcombing. Discover hidden treasures along the shore as the waves wash in unique shells and exciting pieces of driftwood.

Many use Tamarack Surf Beach as a convenient base for exploring the area. With one of the best parking facilities in Carlsbad, the beach is close to Legoland, Sea Life Aquarium, Carlsbad Flower Fields, and the Carlsbad Premium Outlet Mall.

Whether you're seeking a day of adventure, relaxation, or a combination on your San Diego vacation, Tamarack Surf Beach has something for everyone.

So pack your beach essentials, gather your loved ones, and prepare for a memorable day on the California coast.
