It's called the migration of the grunion and it occurs when the tiny fish come to shore to spawn at night. During high tide, they come onto the beach noisily splashing in large groups and just as quickly depart with the outgoing waves. Getting There
Swami's Beach is located in Encinitas, California.
To get there, take I-5 South towards Encinitas and exit onto Santa Fe Dr. Head west on Santa Fe and make a left onto Coast Blvd. Follow Coast Blvd until you reach the entrance to Swami's Beach. There is also an adjacent parking lot available for visitors.
